No more support for Exoprimal. Another dead GaaS within a year.

More live service garbage is closing down, and i couldn't be happier. This shit game looked like garbage over a year before it was even released. Everything i saw from it looked like a game that was supposed to be released around the launch of the 360, but got canned, and rebooted generations later, but without improving its archaic and simpleton design. Well, after a year, this waste of space GaaS game is dead, and this is the kind of quality you can expect Capcom to put on GP on day one, games that won't sell.

Capcom has announced that it is ending Exoprimal's seasonal updates as Season 4 comes to a close. However, online servers will remain functional and previous seasons will be rotating through the game monthly.

Season 4 ends on July 11, and then Seasons 1, 2, and 3 will return in a rotating order every single month. Additionally, Season Passes 1-3 will be available for sale again, which allows players to obtain items from all seasons.

All gameplay modes will still be available to play as well, including end-game content like the Savage Gauntlet and Time Loop Rebellion. If players are alone or matched with only a few other players, AI-controlled bots will be added so that they can still fully experience the campaign and see the ending.

Exoprimal has seen several content updates and collaborations with other Capcom properties like Monster Hunter in Season 3 and Mega Man in Season 4. The game is currently available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, as well as Xbox Game Pass.

While a full year of support is good compared to many live-service games, developers are worried about the sustainability of them, as they compete for players' attention. In 2023, 60% of all play time was spent on games that were more than six years old, such as Fortnite and Minecraft. This makes it harder for new competitors to jump in with new live-service games. However, Capcom said last year that it expects Exoprimal to be profitable despite it being a new IP in a competitive genre.

In GameSpot's Exoprimal review, we said, "While Exoprimal's early hours of repetitive and simple missions will likely drive some people away, its later surprises are a delight for those willing to give it the necessary time. The escalation of difficulty and the wide variety of objectives introduced later on in the shooter gives it fresh life several hours in."

Why I think the game looks like trash

1. Infinitely spawning enemies. Reminds me too much of the PS2 era with games like Serious Sam; though Serious Sam was fun co-op.
2. Mechs. I loathe anything mech related, so this is just a bias of mine.
3. The gameplay looks boring. You could say this is just me saying the same thing as point 1, just rephrased. You'd probably be right.
4. Level design looks boring.

Frankly, the game didn't seem to have anything going for it. I heard no one talking about it prior to release. Nor after release/

Its the kind of brainless game that could've done well if released between 2005 and 2007, back when there wasn't that many multiplayer games on consoles, so anything that could be played with friends could've been more than good enough. Crazy to think that Capcom didn't see that.

Played it a lot when it launched and had quite a bit of fun with it. Found it to be very entertaining.

Never played it but it felt like the game was a slap in the face to everybody wanting a new Dino Crisis.

And generally not going to cry any tears for a GaaS title dying.

I strongly agree. The graphics look like a ps3 game, nothing really innovative, boring gameplay, and the dinosaurs design makes me sick.

Why did you stop ? I mean i guess what they were trying to do was to keep every player hooked the entire time which they obviously couldn't, so i have to ask, what cause you to stop playing?

@madsnakehhh: Just played through the stuff at launch and wanted to play other games. Thought about going back to it and I may play it again someday but it’s just the typical story of too many games too little time.

Installed it but didn't play it as I did not want to make a Capcom account.

Sorry not sorry but if you can't be bothered to streamline the process through an existing platform (Game Pass, Steam, etc) where an account is already present (and who's service you're using to distribute the game), I can't be bothered to make an account.

Other companies manage to streamline it, what is your excuse, Capcom?

Doesn't matter how inclusive you are, if your game is shit, nobody in their right mind will play it.

That's because exoprimal is and was trash.. I said it as soon as I played the beta and I never even thought about buying the game. It isn't because it's a live service game, it's because it's a bad live service game. In the beginning, like always, many people lied and said it was great (cough Helldivers 2 cough) but it all evens out in the end.

Game was fun for a bit, that being said never was to see a live service game close down, some day they will surely stop pushing this crap on us right??
