I have purchased two Battlefield games in my life. 2 and 3
I will most likely never be purchasing another.
Doesn't matter though, millions of soccer mom's will purchase a copy for little Johnny and in all fairness to said soccer mom's, they have enough to worry about to be expected to know the launch history of Battlefield games.
But who cares? If you don't buy the game, it's not your problem.
After seeing hardlines atrocious leak and playing it's atrocious beta all I can say is people will buy this horse shit and it well perpetuate this kind of thing.
Hardline is a 10 dollar update to BF4 ala vietnam from BC2. I want all games to do well ( because of the people that work so hard on them) but I will buy this game at a reduced price and used. I hope this game fails only to make a statement about what a terrible direction some companies are moving towards.
Was never going to anyway.
BTW, do we atleats know how many maps at launch? I'm not optimistic, but just curious.
Between Call of Duty, Titanfall, and Battlefield, I would rank Battlefield the worst. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Destiny is also better. I expect the Battlefield series to go the way of Medal of Honor fairly soon.

I think someone said 10
Thanks. Yeah, i'm expecting around that much. I'll wait and see.
Played the Beta for Hardline... Not impressed. I don't care what the developers say that thing IS nothing more than a mod.

Yes it is. It's a mod they're charging $60 fucking dollars for. It's INSANE!
I'll be skipping it anyway because I have no interest in Hardline (and the beta was not impressive) and because of Battlefield 4.
I (We) probably won't make a difference. It'll still sell loads most likely.
@k2theswiss: I won't buy it at launch...I won't buy it after launch and I won't buy it used. Done with that crap. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me....fool me three times...oh hell you know what I mean.
I got one EA game on the Radar and that is Star Wars Battlefront....chances are they will ruin it and I won't get that either but if they duplicate Battlefront II, I won't be able to resist that. Other than that, their spells no longer work on me!
I understand most of the complaints, but seriously - get over it. It's what gaming has become. We want massive, huge budget games I'lwith top notch graphics, presentation, multiplayer etc, but we want to take away ways for companies to make it financial worthwhile. Releasing 1 game every two years with no map packs or extras is not going to cut it, especially with so many competitors.
I'll ever understand why people are so against charging for additional maps. If the number of maps that come with the game are sufficient (which they are in BF4), and the company wants to do some extra work to extend the life of the game by creating new maps, they shouldn't be compensated for this? Or would people rather these maps not exist? You know you don't have to buy them...right?
It seems like we blame other people for not having the ability to NOT buy something. You get mad at Dice for releasing a battlefield game every year...you don't have to buy it. You get mad at Dice for releasing map packs...you don't have to buy them. You've created some sense of obligation that is completely unjustified. It's like those idiots who buy the new Madden game EVERY SINGLE YEAR, knowing very well that it'll be nothing more than a roster update, but then complain that EA didn't do anything ground breaking with the game.
The argument for not pre-ordering battlefield is weak. Yes they typically have launch issues, but they always get ironed out. The price isn't going to drop shortly after release............so why exactly would I miss out on pre-ordered bonuses and force myself to sit around and listen to other people talk about how much they enjoy the game? To send a message to DICE? LOL Good luck with that.
Please: accept that gaming is about money. Everything will be easier to understand after that.

I'm a firm believer that 99% of the problem wit Battlefield is:
EA: Well, How many Servers do we need for Launch?
Studio: Like 8,000 - 12,000!
EA: How many do we need 6 months after launch?
Studio: Possibly a 1,000 maybe 2,500.
EA: How many do we need 1 year after launch?
Studio: 250-500
EA: You can have 300 Servers total.
See, I don't believe they actually ever do anything. I think the demand drops after everyone stops trying to connect, quits the game or trades it in. I don't think anything is ever addressed, I think Battlefield just starts working because no one is trying to connect anymore.
See, they don't care if you actually play the game, all that matters to them is that you purchased it. In corporate terms this is a problem that "works itself out".
You shouldn't preorder games PERIOD... There is little to benefit from it, and you run risk of wasting your money with a poor game that the dev/publisher misled the consumer on with their ad campaign.

If that is true then the advantages of cloud computing is obvious. Please don't kill me.

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Idiotic gamers will continue to buy this crap up like Hotcakes and Sausage on a winters morning. Doesn't sound like Dice and EA are the insane ones anymore does it?
Hmm I loved the beta.
Suppose it is smart to wait. That goes for all games though.
And they haven't even told us yet what the content will be. Like how many maps, and items and such.
And they were asking $60... I never pay over $50 unless it is a very special place in my heart game.
Hmm. Guess I'll think about it.
I'm someone who likes to have the complete game. So when they offer pre-order incentives, I normally pre-order because I am afraid of missing a bit of the game even if I will never use it.
These days it has become almost impossible to keep that up. Not even talking about the money. Sometimes you are better off waiting for a 'complete edition'. Sometimes you are better off waiting for a 'remastered edition'. Sometimes the DLC isn't even DLC... It just unlocks something that you'd have rather earned by playing the game. Sometimes you were better off pre-ordering a certain version. Or at a certain store.

I'm still on the fence with this. It's obvious this game is coming out for the sole purpose of competing with CoD:AW and thats whats annoying and worrying. Was considering getting BF premium since I enjoy BF4 but I dont want to play on empty servers if everyone is going to be playing Hardline. The BF4 community has already been segmented through premium and it looks like EA are on course to split everyone again just so they can have a game out at the same time as CoD like they did with BF4 and look how that turned out.
EA ruins everything.
Mirrors edge is also fucked.
I Remember how every bit of their press conference opened up with, "Boy we really fucked up on such and such game, but check this new iteration out we really listened to fan feedback and by golly it's so much better."
"We really can't believe you people paid for this steaming pile of shit, but thanks for the money, you can expect an improved version of the same game in a year."

sadly no.
One can hope that consumers can change, but that's like asking for it to rain diamonds from the sky.
Every year I say that I'm not buying Madden, COD etc and every year I buy it. I actually thought the Hardline beta was pretty fun but Destiny has me MUCH more excited after playing the Alpha. I think I may actually be able to hold off on Hardline. Most likely. Probably. Maybe. We'll see.
The last Battlefield I bought was Vietnam. Not the new one, but the old one that released after 1943. I now own (but have yet to play) Battlefield 3 due to EA giving it to me for free. I don't have much interest in these newer ones.
Best place for team shooters is pc. Many small indie teams making solid games for 1/5 the price without the bullshit.
The beta was awful, just as clunky and anarchic as BF3/4 but without the fun vehicles. The heist concept is just bad for a game that thrives on larger player counts and combined arms.
That article does a good job of summing up the non gameplay related problems the series has been facing since BC2.

ya, sadly i have very little faith in dice. Dice can attempt pass the blame on EA while EA can continue to pass the blame back, but we know dice is the true issue. They are the ones who make the broken garbage.sure EA can take some blame to for it to by not proving enough people/time
