A common argument that people throw around here is, "you're just jealous"

I'd like to respond to that statement with my own opinion.

I'm a Wii owner. I don't own a 360 or a PS3 and I don't really want either. I'm not jealous because I can't afford either, the reason is I don't like 360 or PS3 games!

The PS3 is undeniably overpriced and there really isn't anything that appeals to me. I don't like MGS, I don't like FF, I don't like GT. Those 3 games are the only reason to buy the console because they are guaranteed to be good. There are some cool IPs on the system but they simply don't make up for the cost.

The 360 is alright but the only game I want is Halo 3. Other than that, Microsoft's lack of any good IPs really makes me question buying it, I buy systems for their good exclusive IPs mostly. The third party is also strong and there's a lot of support for the system, so I might buy it one day but not yet.

Now I'm gunna criticize the Wii too. There's nothing to be jealous about a past-gen technological system that suits casuals and nintendo faithful only. It's selling well and is getting a good early base but the fact is a lot of the games are weaker and lack the depth and beauty of 360/PS3 games.

I like the Wii cuz I like Nintendo. I used to like Sony, but the PS3 is disappointing me, so I think I'll pass. As for Microsoft, the Xbox had 1 good game, Halo, other than that nothing stood out that would make me buy it (although I originally bought it for Jet Set Radio Future.)

So don't go saying people are jealous, because you really are making a fool of yourself.

Do people still actually live in the dark?

Microsoft lacks good IPs, what's so hard to believe about that. Only like Halo and Fable are ongoing franchises, everything else is rebuilding the old game all over again (eg Knights of the Old Republic -> Jade Empire -> Mass Effect)

How many good Microsoft IPs have spun off into franchises?

You lose.

Psst...I see you are relatively new here so let me give you some advice. If you are going to trash a console's game library, definitely definitely pick the PS3. You'll run into less resistance. (pun intended) Trashing the Xbox360's game library is bound to get you lit up by proud Xbox360 fanboys.

Some people are just jealous.  And also, Microsoft lacks good IPs?  You're kidding, right?

Nintendo has good IPs, too, and so does Sony. Sony seems to have adopted Kratos as its mascot.

Only 2 of those games are confirmed franchises. That's pretty pathetic when you think about it. In totality, Microsoft has less than 10 franchises where Nintendo and Sony probably have close to 20.

edit: I didn't count Dead or Alive cuz it's not owned by Microsoft but I counted Knights of the Old Republic because I'm talking about BioWare as a developer.

I'm aware of the flame bait but the reality, Microsoft's franchises have more power. As Halo single handedly defeated the GameCube.

OMG, microsoft takes risks by having original games as oppose to rehasing the same ideas over and over, HOW HORRIBLE! also, all of those are franchises except viva piniata .

well I agree that it's good they don't keep reusing ideas but it's hard to establish a brand identity especially when competing with Nintendo and Sony's first-parties

keep in mind I prefer 360 over PS3 and said I might consider buying it :P
