Source: Twitter, GoNintendo

First of, I would like to apologise for the shortage due to higher demand of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at retail. New #MH3U stock will hopefully be available in shops next week for Wii U and mid April for Nintendo 3DS. Both versions of #MH3U are also available in Nintendo eShop. Again, I sincerely apologise for causing any inconvenience.

Satoru Shibata

So, who in the EU missed their chance at getting the game? Thoughts?

Maybe not, but this should be news for those having plans to buy MH3U, but haven't done so yet.

Same thing happened with Fire Emblem. Is this just a ploy to get people to download on the eshop?

I think the Pikachu 3DSXL is the fact it was a limited edition run. The good news is they are selling games qutie well, and from what I have heard MH has been helping to move Wii-U's as well. So their is a silver lining, once restocked, things shoukd go pretty smoothly.

The Special Edition Pikachu XL isn't surprising.

Neither should the Game Shortages, They're probably trying to push Digital Sales if anything.

Although Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate isn't handled by Nintendo so Shortages for a Capcom game may mean something else.

IDk, my guess is, 'its better to not have enough and make more, than to make a million extra we dont need.' Is the kind of mindset their in. Just a stab in the dark though.

It's different when you get to hold something physical.

I tried to explain this to my friend, but he just doesn't see value in Physical copies of any game anymore.

they grossly underestimate people's interest in their stuff. on the bright side, it means MH3U is exceeding expectations.

Charizard.

DRM and Consoles don't mix since a Console itself is DRM.

If it wasn't then Assassin's Creed 3 for the WiiU should also work on PS3 and 360.

DRM. Digital Rights Management. Associated with digital copies of software, not physical, tangible ones. Consoles aren't DRM. Consoles are closed, hardware based ecosystems.

Yeah, but considering Monster Hunter is a third party series and knowing how third party games are said to sell on Nintendo consoles...

Monster Hunter has had it's best worldwide performances in Nintendo systems, so again, false presumption.

more lies. Nintendo deliberately under-shipped just like all their other titles (firm emblem, luigi's mansion, etc) so consumers will purchase them through the e-store. Nintendo's greed and selfishness has burned bridges to developers and publishers, now it looks like it'll burn bridges to retailers as well.

Honestly I don't know. I'm not worried about my WiiU being stolen. It's not a realistic scenerio. If it was, if my house was broken into the last thing I would worry about is my consoles. BUT, since you want to be silly, if you're in someones house taking their WiiU, it would be just as easy to swipe their discs at the same time.

I know, but I purchased stuff digitally on say the PS3, I could access it without rebuying all of it on any other PS3. Fine, since the Wii U situation seems so far fetched to you, let's make this a discussion about 3DS instead. As a handheld, surely it's much easier for it to get lost, no?

I hope they can tie the 3DS and Wii U accounts under one NNID. To do that the 3DS needs to have a few more characters for the username. I think NNID limit on Wii U is 12 characters atleast I know my username is 12 characters and it fits but on the 3DS the character limit is 10 so I have to cut off the last two characters in my normal username.

Its also much easier to lose those little f'ing hardcopy games. I hate those things. I swear I haven't seen my MK7 cartridge for a year, no idea where that little bastard is. I wish it was downloaded on my 3DS. Not saying its the best system. Transferring my steam games to my new PC just took a username and password. What I am saying is that I have no concerns with nintendo not honoring my purchases if my console breaks or when its time to move to next-gen.

My whole thing on this matter is that if you want to play a DL game, go and do it. I would rather play the game then not play it at all.

Most of them you don't even go back to, especially if they are indy games no less. If they are retail games I can see some cause for concern due to a higher price purchase but its still not half bad if you call Nintendo service, or be smart and not take your eyes off the device like any good owner would. If anything they shouldn't need to baby ppl on this stuff based off of random hypothetical situations, breaking consoles withstanding (although its a pretty good thing to do anyways in retrospect).

I'm not saying not having a better account system is fine, because there is always that slight insecurity in everyone on this stuff, but if its actually keeping you from buying things you want to play, then you need to sort yourself.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="DaBrainz"] Honestly I don't know. DaBrainz

Its also much easier to lose those little f'ing hardcopy games. I hate those things. I swear I haven't seen my MK7 cartridge for a year, no idea where that little bastard is. I wish it was downloaded on my 3DS. Not saying its the best system. Transferring my steam games to my new PC just took a username and password. What I am saying is that I have no concerns with nintendo not honoring my purchases if my console breaks or when its time to move to next-gen.

I had no idea where my Mario Kart 7 was for a year it turns out my sister borrowed it without asking and took it to her house.

Oh I buy stuff from the eShop all the time. It's why I feel so entitled to criticize the setup.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] I was trolling, bro. Also, what is it with Nintendo and shortages lately? Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity, Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, the special edition Pikachu XL... What's going on?

they grossly underestimate people's interest in their stuff. on the bright side, it means MH3U is exceeding expectations.

How so you underestimate demand for Pokemon?

hey, i'm not the one making the stupid choices, but you gotta agree that no one would've seen MH and FE selling out in the west :P

[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"][QUOTE="charizard1605"]A Nintendo exec apologizing isn't exactly news anymore. charizard1605
Maybe not, but this should be news for those having plans to buy MH3U, but haven't done so yet.

Seriously. It's like Nintendo themselves are anticipating failure...wth?
