Of course playing games with friends is the best thing ever and undoubtedly trumps any other gaming experience. playing mario party one of the worse games can quickly become one of the most competitive and hilarious games ever.

For me the best game with friends is halo. My first real exposure to games was halo:ce 8 years ago and i fell in love. That soon expanded to the half-life series, cs, team fortress, starcraft, command and conquer and i fell in love with games. However nothing could compare to when halo 2 came out and system link was the best thing i have ever done. There is something about crowding around a tv during mornings, lunch, and afternoons in a classroom at a school. Having slumber parties often to have 16 people linked up to four tv's for a night of halo. being able to spend hours talking about what happened, planning the next party and anticipating our turn to play. The competitive banter about whos better, and how "lucky" the other person is. Halo 3 was also awesome and i spent many days oinline with my friends, but gone were the days of sytem link which still holds a special place in my heart lol. So no matter what people say i love and will always love halo b/c of these moments with my friends.

So what about you guys, what was your favorite game with friends that you really enjoyed? post your stories here

Nothing beats playing a game of DOTA with 9 other friends on LAN. The sound of getting First Blood or achieving beyond Godlike or perhaps a Triple Kill against your buddies is one of the best feelings ever. It's not fun if you're on the receiving end though :P

Counterstrike. Me and my friends used to hit the cyber cafes every weekend to play.

All the cyber cafes in my area all went out of business after it's popularity diminished and gave way to other FPSs. No joke.

Halo: CE. Best local multiplayer I ever had.

Next would be Super Mario Kart with my friend and his brother.

Then would be Killer Instinct with the same two people.

I've got some fond memories of playing Mario Kart and SSB with my friends and SFII with my brother. To this day I still have fun playing Pokemon and SFIV, but a large aspect of that is because I pretty much destroy them every time.

Which reminds of a good idea for a thread I once had...

This is a pretty sad thread. It shows how distant developers have made playing with friends locally. Nostalgia eh? It's been that long since a good local game?

Halo is the king of entertaining split screen FPS.

Resistance comes close for my PS3, but I want Halo :(

LBP is great fun though, so fun to play with friends. Back in my PS2 days, Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 and Smackdown Here Comes The Pain ruled as the party game. Wrestling games (and wrestling) just arent the same anymore.

Easily Mario Kart 64. I went through two eras with that game. One when it was first released with my junior high friends, and another when someone brought out an old N64 into the common room of my first-year residence in college. I think it was more fun in college because alcohol and money became involved. :P

I used to play a lot of those WCW games on the N64 with my friends. Later on, the WWF games did the exact, and they were just as awesome. It's just fun as hell to pull your friend out of the ring, beat him down with a chair, throw him back in the ring, then betray the other guy :P. Besides, nothing made me laugh as hard as whipping someone into the corner pole out the ring and hear that ring when his head bounces off.

Get an Xbox, they're practically giving them away.

I have fond memories of playing the old conflict games back on the PS1/PS2. So much fun.

Halo is my current favorite though.

Edit: How could i forget Here comes the pain? Golberg AND Lesner ... ON ONE GAME???

But only to people without friends :P

Anyway, for me i would say Conker on the N64, we used to had a blast playing all the modes, the original SSB was great too and melee, also Mario Kart 64, WWF Attitude, ISSS64, etc.

This gen, without a doubt Brawl, once in a while some Fifa or Mario KArt Wii, but overall, Brawl.

Ummmmmmm, I......I never had any split-screen multiplayer experience with friends. :( Well, with some pals that played online with me, I REALLY loved Counter-Strike 1.6. I remember playing roadwars all day for an entire summer sometime during high school. So amazing.

Used to do that all the time, so much fun. Bots didn't know how to detonate remote mines so there'd be a ton of them all over the place resulting in huge explosions when they went off. :D

Absolute chaos with 4 players.
