Bungie has pretty mediocre graphics in their games. I suppose you could say the same of Bethesda, but to expect killzone type graphics in an open world game is pretty ridiculous.

Halo 1 has awsome graphics for its time, Halo Reach has awsome graohics, and Oblivion was the best looking game out when it released.
Bethesda. It's like they intentionally try to make the fugliest characters models possible.
And then the animations -Shudder-

Thats true. So the question should be if it is for all time, or just when the games are released that we are comparing this to?
For this gen, halo 3 had pretty bad graphics, reach has average graphics, and oblivion is just horrible and they haven't really improved too much throughout the generation especially with animation. Skyrim looks to be changing that based on the pictures, but as of the time of the thread it stands.

I dont game on pc so reach has some of the best graphics out right now to me, Halo 3 looked good not the greatest but good when it came out, and Oblivion is how old of a game now. I could always say super mario 64 has horrible graphics, even though the game is from the 90's.
Activision for sure in the COD franchise. Both the Wii and HD versions don't look that good.

black Ops was a step down, but modern warfare 2 had great graphics.

You could, but it would make no sense seeing as every game I mentioned is a current gen game being compared to other current gen games :P

MW2 doesn't look that bad from what I played from it, but it's not great looking.
COD, has great graphics though.millerlight89ID Tech 3 is no longer "great." Sorry :(
Why does it matter what engine it uses?
It still looked like a great game
COD, has great graphics though.millerlight89ID Tech 3 is no longer "great." Sorry :( Uhhh...... huh :| ? Just because newer frameworks have been coded, it doesn't mean ID Tech 3 is "no longer great", it still looks pretty good. Plus from COD 2 and up the engine has been re-coded by Infinity Ward for the COD games, it used the IW Engine now. so its not exactly the "ID Tech 3" engine, but a modified and re-coded version of the "ID Tech 3" its based on the engine, there's a difference.......you do know this right? On PC specifically, the COD Games, look fantastic, maxed out, it by no means has "mediocre graphics".
nintendo does not have bad graphics they are very artistic with their games!
leave them out of this question weall knew full well when we bought our wiis we didnt see hdcoming ,
plus i dont see how you can make a thread that says quote other then nintendo when honestly nintnedos games can only be compared on their system not on the 360 or ps3 cause you cant playthem
and i will go with
ridge racer 6 i honestly dont see how we still end up with 2d trees and such in the background this gen or even on the side of the road ,
the tress and such dont even look real ,
on ps3 i can name this one as the worst-strangle hold seriously how can this pass ,
and on wii ,
alien syndromn has to be the worst looking game ever releasedon it
I love Halo and Amnesia (which by now with all the love its geting I consider big), but both have pretty bland graphics. Even on high Amnesia looks dated, though at least that game is a downloadable indie title.
Resistance 2 was also alright in graphics, but didn't live up to the graphical hype the first got and focused more on other features with a slightly more cartoony style.
Big name? Well you didn't say they had to be good :P
Every console game. That way I don't need to type them out.

I'd say the CoD games, but they look pretty good on PC IMO.

No, it really didn't. Piss poor animations, lousy physics, weak textures. It looks ok, not great.ID Tech 3 is no longer "great." Sorry :(

COD, has great graphics though.OB-47

it gets a bit meh when they use the same game engine 4 years running.Double Fine, Activision, EA, Sony, well basically everyone who makes small games or handheld titles. So, almost everyone.

1. ( I LOVE THIS COMPANY, so no hate) But I'd say Valve. Portal 2 mod is pretty good though.
2. Activision - Call of Duty. For SOO many games, you'd think they would break the graphics engine like Dice is doing

All have one thing in common. Their graphics are mediocre. But the artistic st yle in their games are ageless.

I don't know about that, Portal 2 looked very impressive.

Isn't it better to compare devs that actually don't develop games on weaker systems like the handhelds and the Wii and instead compare their work on the HD systems and PC.
