PS3 - Way too expensive - and I hear they recently took away the biggest impetus for me to buy it. Until they restore Reverse-compatibility, I'm not even going to consider buying this system. They'll eventually re-release all the good games that come out for this console, so I'm not going to get ripped off this generation.

X-Box 360 - It's Microsoft, that means it's gonig to have corner cut problems. It has ALWAYS meant that. I'd be using a different operating system and I'd replace microsoft office if it wasn't so dang convenient that it's what everyone else uses. That said though, I'd almost buy this system because all the PS3 games are threatening to come over here.

It's a shame that these two systems are the only ones who are truly progressing the graphic power of gaming.

Wii - Sure, it's a great novelty, but because the system really doesn't build on the last generation's power, the greats like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy won't be visiting this system. One of the biggest parts of those franchises is that their latest games are state-of-the-art. Wii is an excellent party system, and that said I'll be buying it for that purpose. But as for epic storylines and single player goodness, I doubt this system will produce anything beyond Nintendo's main titles (Which have been a little too easy for me for a long time.)

I'm actually thinking about giving up gaming entirally, at least until this generation sorts itself out. We'll see how things pan out in the next two years, but for now, it's not looking too good.

Actually, it's entirely possible that it could. They didn't fix the problem at all. Just put in a new processor which runs cooler.

Proof?

This is a ridiculous, fanboy, over-hopeful statement. It will take MONTHS of in-home testing before ANYONE can say whether MS has built a reliable 360. Until then, keep it shut.

You can still get BC with the PS3 by just spending a little more for the 80 gig SKU instead of the 40 gig. I am very pleased with my 60 gig with the EE chip, even at $600.00 it was a good buy. So if you missed out on this then the only person you can blame is the person you see every day in the mirror.

Well if that's really how you feel, maybe passing up a generation or two will be good for you. It looks like on the whole this gen is off to a fast start with both hardware and software sales, so I'm sure your business won't be missed. People fade in and out of gaming for a lot of reasons, myself included. Last gen saw me purchase very few games dispite owning most of the systems. This gen has reversed that for me.

The possibility of that is why I'm avoiding 360 for now. I'll wait and see. My friend just got his 360 back from repair and its supposed to be one of the new systems. If that thing RROD again I'll never buy one. Also the cost difference between 360 and PS3 is very narrow now.

From what I understand 360 Pros with HDMI inputs do have the falcon processors, at least most of them (statement to save my own butt). But anything without HDMI I think is a crap shoot. There are threads on the xbox forums about identifying a 360 with a falcon processor. To my knowledge there hasn't been many, if any, that have RROD that do actually have the new processors. I'd tell him to check the forums and actually look in through the vent to look for a piece or 2. They should easily be able to tell if they got a falcon or not.

I'll second that. Don't go telling me the RROD are fixed when two of my friends just got the rings, despite the fact that their 360's were brand new.

mstc_Q

Fatal Frame 4
Monster Hunter 3
Spore
Opoona
Kings Story (basically a RTS/RPG)
Tales of Symphonia 2
No More Heros
Obscure: The Aftermath
FFCC: Crystal Bearers ("Crystal Chronicles" In Name Only. Gameplay will actually focus on the single player, like its main series counterparts.

As well as a few other RPGs and another Survival Horror whom's titles I've forgotten at the moment.

Resident Evil won't be visiting the Wii? So thats why it had 2 RE titles released in its first 12 months.
