Dirt 5 on PS5 apparently will have some exclusive features not found on any other platform.

DIRT 5 will have a 120fps mode and exclusive features on PS5

In an interview for the Official PlayStation Magazine UK, the game’s development director Rob Karp stated that “The power of the PS5 also means that we will have an option for 120fps, which is very exciting for the racers who know that every frame counts.”

Furthermore, support for the DualSense controller’s features, such as the haptic feedback and resistive triggers have been alluded to, with Karp saying “the DualSense is great. When we got the tech demo up and running the whole studio came around and everyone wanted a go. It offers something new and unique and we felt it fits really well for racing, especially for a game with such diversity of content and cars.”

Dual Sense is a gamechanger, SSD is best in class, Tempest Audio Engine is second to none, PS5 can replace your last gen PC.

Really dont know why they are pushing 120fps, should stay at 60fps and pump up the graphics

Audio engine wont be better than dolby atmos with a surround system.

It's a cross-gen racing game. How much can you push the graphics? Plus 120fps is a pretty solid marketing gimmick because no console game I know of can even run at that. It'll be a first.

@gifford38: the ps5 ssd has nothing to do with this.

There's a passable CPU in consoles this time around, that allows an underburdened GPU to actually push higher framerates through.

You saw the issue plainly this last generation - things like the Pro patches, and even the XSX Witcher 3 revealed that even if you lowered the resolution it couldn't sustain 60fps. The systems were designed unbalanced, skimping on CPU because they intended games to emphasize pixels over framerate. And so unless devs worked closely with that in mind, games that were built for 30fps on base models typically needed to stay in a 30fps mode even on the upgraded gpus

@Juub1990:

There was a game that ran at 120FPS on PS3,but was 60FPS per eye.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/super-stardust-3d-720p120-confirmed-article

Effectively the PS3 was rendering 120fps,but 60FPS for each eye.

Talk about obscure lol.

Well, I guess this will be the first game to refresh the whole image at 120Hz then.

I'm sure they're not doing 4K/120 but 1080p/120 instead. HDMI 2.0 can handle that.

Pathetic.

You seem to be butthurt because sony has a much faster ssd than MS,you know what is sad about some of you lemmings? That MS is hyping its velocity ssd as well as a gamechanger but i don't see you cry about it,because well if lord MS says it it must be true if evil sony say it it is a lie.😂

Sony doesn't need to hype much the PS5 the xbox is destine to fail, even the xbox 360 which was basically their high point fail.

Honestly, playing TLOU2 at 30 FPS is more than fine. I don’t know what it is, but 30 FPS on my PC w/ my monitor looks and plays like shit. But solid 30fps on my consoles on my 65” tv feels fine. Weird.

Xbox Series X’s Sampler Feedback Streaming Is A “Game Changer,” Says Gears Developer.

As we look to the future, the Xbox Series X’s Sampler Feedback for Streaming (SFS) is a game-changer for how we think about world streaming and visual level of detail. We will be exploring how we can use it in future titles to both increase the texture detail in our game beyond what we can fit into memory, as well as reduce load times further by increasing on-demand loading to just before we need it, instead of pre-loading everything up-front as we would use a more traditional ‘level loading’ approach.”

https://gamingbolt.com/xbox-series-xs-sampler-feedback-streaming-is-game-changer-says-gears-developer

Ill await your innevitable spin...😂😂😂

Wait what did he say increase detail there by having a fast ssd?

Not once but twice he talked about increasing detail,i don't know but i have see that argument been made here by some cows (not me),and i saw you downplaying it,well but what do the Coalition know about making games right Pedro.?

Yes they do and is obvious sony would not.

But MS is activily over hyping their much slower ssd as gamechanger, and some lemmings denied it.😂

This was a bullet point in Cerny's road to PS5 that I think most people overlooked. Based on what Cerny shared, the PS5 will be the easiest Playstation ever to develop games for. Which is interesting and insightful when you consider how much more powerful it is than the PS4 and that the PS4 was considered relatively easy to develop games for.

the ps4 is the same architecture as the ps5 so developing for the ps5 is nothing new. now add the ssd to it which gets rid of coping assets and level design. more freedom for the developers. even crystal dyamics said it boost the graphics in avengers with out optimizing the game.

omg your so out of it. there not the same power but there the same architecture as in gpu

meaning its not the cell(ps3) or emotion engine (ps2). there custom pc parts. its not making the developer start all over again to figure out how to develop for the next gen machine.

this is how they can have backwards compatible without having to put a ps4 parts in the ps5 like they had to with the first ps3. the ps3 had ps2 parts in it.

exactly why epic and crystal dynamics and other third party praising the ps5 architecture and not for its power.

this is also why i don;t get why people look at the teraflop numbers for total benchmark of there machine. its all the components and how they work together. even when the ps4 came out i didn't say haha we have more teraflop. I look at all of it components.

also don't get why people say the ssd is only for loading games and ignore the fact the ssd will help more while the game is running. Essentially the SSD is what feeds the system's beastly power--it's the fuel for the fire.

then there is the tempest chip that is the same power of the 9 ps4 cpu all together and are saying the developer can use it for other cpu functions.

Show of hands, who thinks they have a TV that will accept a 120 Hz signal? What TV is it?

Hint: Just because your TV is labeled as 120 Hz doesn't mean you can actually use it at 120Hz. Marketing is a bitch.
