This concerns me a little, but I'm still looking forward to this game very much. I hope RARE delivers.

"There are significant concerns with the game, too. Aside from the very obvious point that a lack of substantial variety in challenges is likely to get wearisome very quickly -- and truth be told, after an hour and a half with the game we weren't exactly hoisting a trouser pole in anticipation of more thinly-veiled driving slogs -- the family friendly facade and real-world driving physics are utterly at odds with each another."
Well that doesn't sound too good.
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]It could get a 2/10, much like LBP, and I'd still buy it on day one. Despite petty criticism, I'll be enjoying Banjo and LBP in the comfort of my home, instead of some thoughts that game reviewers crammed in my head.psx1337
Amen, brother.
this...I can't wait for the game. Gonna be great.
What I got from that preview:
Rare isn't making a true Banjo Kazooie sequel, therefore Nuts and Bolts will probably suck. Of course if they made a true Banjo sequel we'd rip on them for "not being innovative enough",but hey, that's what happens when you give credence to gaming "journalists".
C'mon people, dont need to be that harsh on the guy who wrote this, i mean is his job, he didnt like that much the game, still at the end he says that is kind of curious to see what else the game have to offer, i mean not every preview is 100% true or false, he is just point it some issues with the game.
Personally i never like that much Banjo on the N64, and this game doesnt change my mind about the franchise, nevertheless, the graphics looks terrific.
i was pumped for this game. but i didnt know the game is 99% about driving cars and stuff. thought it would be like the classic Banjo that i remember. either way, First day rental for me. need money to buy geow 2, LBP , RFOm 2 and fall out 3. this preview made it easier on my choice to buy it or rent it. thanks for the find TC.
but i think Rare should of stuck with the plaformer that we all loved back in the days.

I noticed that too, saying a game will suck because its different from the predecessor is ridiculous. If that was the case why do new franchises work? Because they are new, who says a sequel has to be the same.

So, that's going to lead to Banjo and LBP getting grief. Unfair? Yeah. True? Absolutely.
Banjo Tooie is the highest-rated platformer on GS (9.6) and Banjo 1 is a 9.5. It's gonna be very hard doing from one of the best platformers of all time to just a "decent" game that isn't even really a platformer anymore. I also wonder why is it only $40? Not a good sign.
I think now I'm starting to looking forward to Fable II more, now.

Well that not going to be to hard to keep. The only thing that could beat it now is a 10. Which is going to be hard to do if SMG could not do it.
Back on topic...I want this game to be good so bad, it even has me play Kameo right now to get the Rare feeling back in me. I love Rare and Rare was my main reason for owning a 360.
If this flops or comes out bad. I just don't know, it will be very upsetting. Deep down I was hoping this game would be better than SMG.
Yea this is a little disappointing... I was almost sure that Banjo wouldbe a must-buy for me. Now I'll wait and check out the reviews/demo.

Question:
If it didn't have the words "Banjo-Kazooie" in the title would any of you even give a s***? Be honest.
Yeah, the same could be said for many games. But I just don't see the appeal in this one.
bearbones
You really don't think the name is an indicator of what the game will be like? What do you think a MGS fan would say if you asked him that question? What about Halo?
If you were to mention this about a game's sales reception and whether or not it deserved it, such as a game series like Madden, then i would understand your point. But for arguably one of the best platforming series (yeah i know, there have only been 2 of them) the Banjo name means a lot. So far the series has earned every bit of its success and praise and as a fan of the series tell me why i shouldn't be looking forward to the latest one?
I don't care how much they change the game up or how many sites give their opinions on it, i'll try to remain positive about it until i play the game and make my own decision.
It's funny people were hyping this game but the game looked like it sucked from the get go. The original Banjo rocked but this looks like a knock off more than a sequel. LBP will definately own because it still looks great.wiidog
One bad preview from some guy you don't even know, or if he has the same taste as you.and this is your conclusion. This game is gonna get 8.0 or higher and people like you will say see I told you.. like it's terrible:roll: good job.

They never said it would be bad because it's different from before, they said they have concerns because the new stuff, that the entire game is based around, isn't a whole lot of fun. That completely different, and is a real concern, since they've confirmed Rare unserstated how big a part of the game the vehicles will be, which seems to be almost all of it now, and if the vehicles aren't much fun, then the whole game may be very average at best.Certainly if they'd stuck with the old formula they might have been called "uninnovative" (if that's even a word), but they don't seem to have lost their talent for level design, so even if it's more of the same it would still be good, this game looks like it could turn out poorly, on the other hand.
He didn't attack any of the mechanics...he just said the game is vastly different.
jg4xchamp
He criticised the game's physics engine, which apparently makes the driving frustrating at times, and unplayable at others.
Anyway...
"Despite Rare's assurances that Nuts & Bolts isn't a racing game -- as many feared from initial screenshots -- there's no denying it's very firmly a driving game. Whatever the task at hand, your goal is to ride, fly and float your way to victory as fast as possible -- music notes, Jiggies and TT Trophies being awarded depending on the challenge's criteria."
I really hope this isn't the case. I mean, one of the things Rare did well in their collect-athon games (Bano Kazooie, DK64) was that there was a wide variety of challenges.
Now imagine the original Banjo Kazooie, but replace every puzzle/challenge with a race. Blergh.:(

Ooh...that reminds me of RARE's BATTLETOADS for NES.
Loved the game, and the series, but all of the sudden, they would make you race on WaterSleds, and it was friggin' impossible.
I hope this isn't the whole game, that would drive me nuts.
Still gettin' it though.
I'll just wait for some reviews of the game... though not much i'm interested in getting this game... Rare are great..

Yeah Gamespot reviews are not accurate anymore.
[QUOTE="Number_1_Gamer"]Rare hasn't made a good game since they left Nintendo.ZimpanX
yes because the idea that Rare can make good games without Nintendo makes me want to laugh
hahahahaha
No but really Kameo is a great game
What people forget is that Rare is a whole new company now. A lot of the original members left to find other studios. o.NAPK1NS
This worries me the most
"Aside from some some aesthetic and structural nods, Nuts & Bolts appears to be about as far removed from previous Banjo games as is possible, Rare's attempts to claim otherwise are misleading to say the least"
Marka1700
yeah
That does have me worried also.... I would not mine a spin off if they would have done another core game first
There exists in the forums a "system war" that I fear people think exists in the real world. The reality is that the big designers respect each other, follow each other's games, and are big fans of gaming in general. Yet in SW we somehow think we're supporting them by fighting, when really we're cheering for marketing executives who could care less about making a good game. So, that's going to lead to Banjo and LBP getting grief. Unfair? Yeah. True? Absolutely.

I agree 100% but I assume you are also aware why this site is usually the best place to get a variety of news from a variety of different sources about a variety of different games. Its because these fanboys dig through the internet looking for "ammunition" to post here to try and "own". With a level head this "ammunition" is great news and information on whats new with gaming.
No worries for me. This preview, like too many here in sw seems to be disappointed in the fact that Rare actually innovated in this third installment of the Banjo series and wanted a rehash of the previous games with shinier visuals which for all intensive purposes we are going to get anyway when Banjo 1 & 2 hit XBLA. :D
Me, I know this game will make me a very happy gamer for a long, long time and can't hardly wait to get my hands on it.
