I've never really liked handhelds before.  I had a Gameboy Advance that I bought at launch, but I sold it pretty soon after.

Because I didn't like the GBA, I was a bit reluctant to get a DS (or a PSP) at first.  I tried a friends PSP a while back, and whilst it was ok, I didn't really like the controls on it to be honest.  Then a few weeks back I downloaded a demo of Puzzle Quest and got addicted!  I saw it was out on the DS and PSP.  So I thought I'd get a DS and see what all the fuss was about....

It rocks!  It really is a fantastic little system!!   I can definately see why it is selling so well.  The touchscreen and stylus is such a simple idea, but soooooo good.

2 thumbs up!  :D

Glad you like it. It is a good handheld and one of the best ones to date. Although I'm looking for a Hori screen protectors. I hear they are the only ones that work properly without air bubbles. Anyone know where to get these?

I got mine on Amazon. Nice and cheap. http://www.amazon.com/HORI-DS-Lite-Protective-Filter/dp/B000FVVSZA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-8827131-4814347?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1178820842&sr=8-1

Anyway, the DS is fantastic. I can't wait to import Ouendan 2! :)

Having both system i really do like the ds lite alot better. The PSP is just way to clunky next to the ds lite. i hate the constant charging, the long loading times, the not-so-great games that are expansive for their price. I really don't like playing a console game crammed into a portable. it souldn't AWESOME at first but having to deal with the loading time......AAAHHHHH i hate it. I've also done a lot more handheld gaming than console. Im very use to the very short loading time from the gameboy line and not use to the console loading time. that's why i can't stand the loading time on the psp.

Well with a handheld you should expect long battery life and short loading times. It's one of the reason's I will not buy a PSP.

I said that too, but I ended up getting one to play D&D Tactics. Funny thing is, I usually play my PSP at home, plugged into the wall :)

Congrats TC on getting your first DS. If you have a wife/girlfriend you can either buy a second one or say goodbye to the one you just got :P

The DS isn't successful because you like it, it's successful because you BOUGHT it.  Somehow, Nintendo convinced you to go to the store and buy a DS.  The second you pullet out your wallet, you just proved that they succeeded with releasing the DS.

I nearly bought Mario Kart today, I picked it up and looked at it, but thought I'd wait and see if I can find Puzzle Quest this weekend.  If I can't get Puzzle Quest I'll either get Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, or Trauma Centre I think.

Not really. word-of-mouth. I got mine last year from japan and when i came back home with it, everyone wanted a ds lite too. It's carzy. I'm not the only one who's experienced this, i',m sure there are planty others in this thread.

Another reason why I am glad I got my DS is that there is a game coming out on it this year called ROTR (Raid Over the River) http://uk.gamespot.com/ds/action/raidovertheriver/index.html

This looks like being an updated version of River Raid, an old Atari game that was the first game I ever owned!  I'll be buying that for nostalgia reasons if nothing else! :)

The first Ouendan game sold a few DS' to my friends. As did Brain Age and New Super Mario Bros.

I've never shown my DS to someone who said "This is crap" or "Meh".

The word Nintendo strikes a nostalgic chord with alot of people too. Most people I know that got a DS are "lapsed gamers".

If you can find it, check out Nanostray. Same developer, and a great Vertical-Scrolling shooter.

Then that's your opinion. I count -- including other games not on the list -- over 40 DS games worth owning by the end of the year, so I don't see how it doesn't have enough titles.

And lest I forget Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword.. ?

At first I was a DS doubter. I thought the whole idea was stupid. But I started getting more and more interested in it. I bought one in February. I've got three games so far and between them I've spent A LOT of time playing that bad boy.
