Now that Destiny clearly isn't GOTY, what is?

Mine go to either Velocity 2X or Smash (3DS) at this moment. They are both remarkable games, especially on handheld. The ultimate time killers if you ask me. What about you, SW?

This has been a remarkably shitty year, hasn't it?

Going just by stuff that has released already (sorry Smash 3DS), I'd say it's between Mario Kart, Divinity, Dark Souls II (I guess?), and of course, Velocity 2X.

Um, well.... um.... well... yeah.. umm...

Divinity OS is so far the best game of the year,but there´s still big ones coming out like Elite: Dangerous,Wasteland 2,Pillars of Eternity and Civilization Beyond Earth just to name a few,so it´s hard to say.

Last of Us never won. Well, not on this site, and presumably, the question was about that.

For me it's Wolf Among Us, and it's too early to tell for Destiny on my part

my personal choice is The Banner Saga (hence the sig) but I hope something better shows up. Divinity mostly just pissed me off with its vague quests and overly cheerful music.

Since I haven't played Super Smash Bros. yet, I'll say Mario Kart 8. Easily the best game of the year. It's only going to get better with the new DLC.

For me is either dark souls 2, divinity OS or MAYBE (big maybe) dragon age 3 if they don't manage to ruin it this time.

Child of Light, Transistor, Velocity 2X are the best thus far (DS2 PC isn't far off either)

Divinity by a mile right now. Civ has potential and I think Shadow of Mordor could be the sleeper hit of this year...maybe. And then there is Wasteland 2. Divinity: Original Sin set the bar pretty high, though.

I've been most impressed by Child of Light, Transistor, Wolfenstein, and Valiant Hearts. It's been sort of a crappy year for GOTY candidates. I haven't played either Dark Souls 2 or South Park, but those games should be front runners as of right now.

Shovel Knight. It's always been Shovel Knight.

As I've said a few times over the months...this year sucks and there doesn't seem to be much hope that the year will suddenly improve.

It's funny how GOTYs are chosen in a remarkably crappy gaming year like this year, but then we get other years when it seems like there are legitimately 10+ fantastic GOTY level games and only one of them are prized GOTY. Both years have a GOTY, but for 2014 the bar is exceptionally low. It makes you wonder. Side bar: Same reasoning for film Oscars. I've thought about this over the years how GOTYs/annual awards work, but I'm thinking about this again in this thread due to you asking what will be GOTY 2014.

Some indie game probably? Something out of left field, I'm hoping. I sure hope it's not a annual franchise multiplat or some last gen port.

There really isn't one yet.
