I don't care how it does in Japan. I just really want to play Lost Odyssey. I really don't have Japanese taste and I find that often things that are huge there I hate and vice versa. If anything this is a reason for me to buy the game.

Level 5 games own, thats why MS needs not Mistwalker they aren't even exclusive devs. I could easily see them making multi-plat games for PS3 in the future. 360 is dead in japan, and its not cause its a bad console. Its simply because the competition is just better.

Its business... Japanese gamers don't seem to favour 360. Japan favours JRPG games whereas NA, and Europe gamers do but not nearly as much. Japanese gamers prefer Playstation 3. Its that simple.

I never said they would, its just a proabability.

Wait Microsoft actually tried to set foot in Japan?

All they did was make ties with MistWalker that's it.

Compare that to America where they: Brought Bungie, Bioware, and RARE. Made ties with Epic, Silicon Knights, along with countless other Western based developers.

What exactly have they done in Japan outside of Mistwalker and licensing an agreement for Tri-Ace to create 2 games over 2 years ago that still aren't out yet?

Oh and don't even get me started on their advertising.

Seriously anybody who says that Microsoft made a serious attempt to break into the country clearly has no idea what they are talking about.

it should of said, where in the US they lost Bungie, watched bioware get bought out by EA, made a huge mistake with Rare.

Yes but that was only recently, but during their whole track record with the Xbox they've done many things to attract Western gamers to their console. Yet they've done next to nothing to get Japan.

MS never wanted to nor said they had a desire to win Japan. All they said was that they wanted to do better than they did last time, which they have, and to get more Japanese developers on their system. They've had ALOT of success in the second field. The US will see way more Japanese games on the 360 than the og xbox ever got. Nobody can deny that. The whole, "I buy Sony for japanese stuff" is a mute argument this gen.

Even japanese developers have commented that they like the 360 because it gives them a good entry into the western market. They know its a flop in Japan, but they see the world as being way more than just Japan.

i dunno, ive been playing games for over 25 years and i remember during the8 and 16 bit days anything from japan was considered good. hell i wouldnt touch an american game with a 10 foot pole. seems like things have changed, most of the good develepors are european, canadian, or american. im starting to doubt japan in general as gamers. they seem to pretty much stick to japanese products. i mean wasn,t wii fit on top of the charts there when it released? i dont really even consider that as a game, might as well wip out da power pad. haha. i am a 360 fan, but it will NEVER sell in Japan. oh well, their loss.

Considering how well big budget exclusives sell on that system, I'm really not sure how enticing of an offer that is.

No, but the difference in America more than makes up for the difference in Japan.

Until the 360 falls behind in total sales, America will continue to matter most. Maybe not the end-all be-all market, but definitely the biggest and most important.

Releasing a year early, getting owned by the Wii and the PS3 starting to sell steadily around the world.

MS went down the whole only the US matters route with the Xbox 1 and ignored Japan and didn't market enough in Europe and it cost them big time, $4 Billion to be exact. ;)

Wow man. Against all odds is PSP actually somehow holding up. However Wii and DS is on FIRE. It's insane...

Yep, 360 really should give up on Japan. Stop making it aviable at all there and just focus hard on the rest of the world. Get all the western developers and such and keep the money instead of having put down millions of dollars on useless JPN exclusives and on consoles that's just going to lay in some warehouse for all eternity.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Cooking Mama sales:

USA: 700k
Japan: 50k

Mario Party 8 sales:

USA: 1.5 million
Japan: 900k.
