Now that Unreal Tournament 3 is more casualised.How will it dethrone Halo 3 now?

Since hardcore FPS gamers & Halo haters hate it because it's a casual FPS. What's the excuse now? Epic is screwing over their hardcore fanbase by slowing the movement speed, removing double jump, dodge jump & adding more emphasis on vehicular combat. The Hermits and Cows (who claim they game on PC)'s precious UT is slowly becoming the thing they very hate.

The sad thing is that I should be raving about this as ammo against Halo haters but I love UT as well. Halo just caters towards when me & my friends (casual FPS gamers) just want to have a splitscreen multiplayer blast.

And if your opinion constituted all the criteria for the king of the FPS genre, the argument would be solved.

Unfortunately we've got to consider other factors.

Halo is a great series, I really enjoyed Halo 3, but to call it the king of the FPS genre goes too far really. There's just too much competition.

How is UT3 casualised?... Its basicaly UT2K4 with better graphics and more weopons/vehicles/maps.

Unless you think casualising a game is porting it to console!... then your wrong this is just UT3 the sequal to UT2K4 but its now multpiplatform.

And I love playing Halo 3 online its great... but I "will" play UT3 more when its release because its essentialy halo's MP but better and bigger in every way.

agreed, a great series I just completed the campaign and was impressed with the out and out action that continues on the tradition of the series,

for me halo is the most intense FPS there is, but is it the undisputed king of FPS no, i think any one of three or four could be

Wall-jumping is still in as far as I'm concerned. Anyways I sorta forgot that the community will eventually balance UT3 they see fit for themselves anyway. Actually it's probably smart now that they will draw a new audience without compromising thier hardcore fanbase. Uhh this is embarrassing..

btw CS & Halo 3 currently have 118k people playing as of now. CS:S has 48K people playing. Pretty impressive for H3 considering everyone is an extra $50 a year for it.

You have no idea what are you talking about. Dodge jump is gone, but double jump is still in, they'v ealso added rocket jump, and impact hammer jump, dodge and wall jumps are still there. The movement for PC version isn't slowed down, and they talk much vehicles so console guys will pay some attention to the game.

Dethrone halo? Halo was never on the throne, not even close. Uneal was there looong before halo wasn't even in project, UT was on the throne when halo came out and it's still the best skill-based multiplayer FPS ever created.

Sales=/=quality, just look at sims and 50cent. Advertising and lack of good fps games on consoles is the thing that made halo popular, not gameplay.

The pc version will just be modded to bring it back to its glory, stuff the console versions ;) Zenkuso

1st. Please link me to the source that said TDM and DM matches weren't included in UT3

2nd. Please show me where the devs said that host couldn't adjust various settings as in other UT games to increase settings such as speed.

3rd. Please show me where they said Instagib mode is no longer included

4th. That guy who in the inteview is an ass and obviously A) Never played UT2k4's Onslaught mode or Assault, B) Is a DM/TDM only player, C) Lied and never played UT3 or D) Didn't care to even understand the game (which was EXTREMELY obvious imo I think he was stoned while playing).

5th. Halo 3 has a gimped version of a typical PC map maker and the words Halo 3 don't deserve to be in the same sentence with Unreal Tournament 3.

Also people said "adding more emphasis on vehicular combat" when Onslaught was featured in UTk4 and look how that turned out. So lets wait until the game actually comes out before we make asshat assumptions about a series that has never let its fans down.

Also UT3 devs (Rein) have been quoted saying that the PC version isn't based on what the PS3 can do, but instead the PS3 version is built on what PC's can do. You think after all the delays Epic has made to make sure this game is damn near perfect will be for nothing? Halo 3 is just an above-average fps and I find it funny that after Halo 1 came out Xbox owners think the birth of FPS genre was created/innovated with Halo lmao.

I've never been a big fan of UT, but wow, i can't believe they would get rid of all that stuff. I hate it when games get that casual makeover. And TF2, while i haven't played it yet (just have a good feeling with some of the things i've been hearing) is another example. Don't get me wrong though, its probably a good game.

In UT2004 changing the number of extra jumps, gamespeed, weapon/player stats, item spawn time, etc was very easy.

I don't know about the PS3 version but the PC version of UT3 will have any problems it has fixed.

It would have never dethroned Halo 3.
