[QUOTE="masiisam"]I don't understand how people "DON'T" think that sales are important.....At the production/developers point of view sales are the only testament of how "successful" a franchise is...It really is as simple as that....."Successful" means "profitability".......not how good the game is...The game is great but "if" the sales do not follow.....
Do you think guerrilla will get the same budget for KZ3?
Do you think that the game will stay exclusive?
Do yea think we will see another KZ in the next 3-4 years?..
Do you think we will see continued support for the game via DLC?
It can argued that KZ2 has been Sony's largest flagship title and promoted as such for years...Showcasing how powerful the console is.... If a "Flagship" FPS in the states falls flat. What perception do you think that gives developers for the PS3? Will it affect other genres? or games that are still in concept?
My examples are just the tip of the iceberg....It does matter to "gamers" as it will have a direct impact on "us" down the road if this game does/doesn't do well..

yeah, people should pay attention to sales but not for kz2 selling more than a million in 5 weeks worldwide in a $400 system in this economic situation.... sure not awesome or halo 3 sales but not bad sales at allI never said they are bad...I agree they are holding their own...but my overall point was deeper than that...
Adding to my post: Sales are sales...they are not excused at the developer/producer level on the economic times and/or the cost of the system supported....I can guarantee that at the developer/producer standpoint. Halo sales are absolutely used as a guide...because they are the model of how "successful" a franchise is..
The two share similar traits for their supported console..and if one is more successful than the other..and the difference in success is as abundant as it stands..It will have an impact for all gamers
