NPD: Max Payne sold 400k across all platforms..Flop Payne?

According to NPD Max Payne sold 400k across all platforms,, for so such a hyped up game no one seem to have bought it.

This should make me feel happy because it means GTA V is more likely to be talked about soon, but... Something feels wrong.

So much for teh AAA scores= people will buy.. this clearly show no one care about scores in da real world. this is looks like a $20 purchase at best.

NPD =/= total sales, Obligatory.

And R* games tend to have good legs when it comes to sales. I don't have it yet, but will in the next couple weeks.

400k in than a month is a flop? add to the fact that they're not even counting DD or worldwide sales? the game will do fine, sure it won't be anywhere near the level of GTA or RDR but it will move a couple million units.

NPD doesn't include any digital sales or any other country aside from U.S. You guys really take it seriously? In the UK it topped Diablo 3

I was gonna buy it when it dropped in price. It's hard to justify paying $60 bucks for a game when it's going to be $30 bucks in a month or two. I don't buy into the hype and I find it too easy to wait.

Alright two things

1)The sales only count for US,also knowing the fact that it came on 15th may so only 15 days of the month can be counted

2)The numbers DO NOT INCLUDE PC SALES,as PC version was released on 1st june.

Anyways go to vgchartz and we have a whole new information where max payne 3 has sold more than a million in the US for ps3 and xbox360 and I guess take 2 already told that it sold in(not shipped) 3 million units.

Would you still believe NPD whose information is almost always far from accurate as far as I know,and patcher,who is probably just annoyed with R* for not proving his predictions right with GTA 5?

I was waiting to see if the PC version was going to be a bad port (Luckily it apparently turned out great on PC). Plus Diablo III, Limited Time, and it's nice outside where I'm at so I won't buy it until I actually have time to play it, plus I gotta finish the first two.

That's why I'm limiting what games I buy anymore, I just don't have all the time for every game that looks cool. :(

Such an amazing game. What a shame. They didn't position themselves well at all from a release standpoint. I would of delayed the game a month and let Diablo 3 cool down a bit.

Thats a shame because the SP is a damn masterpiece and the MP is fun

You think Diablo 3 had anything to do with it? People hyped it more that is for sure. Word of mouth is the best advertising there is.

Edit: Also Diablo 3 runs on laptops and not-so-powerful pc. Many "console gamer" bought it too.

I enjoyed MP3 way way more than Vanquish but to each their own

Yeah I think in terms of pure mechanics, satisfaction, variety and polish, Max Payne 3 is the best this gen. Everything just comes together so perfect with a variety of options.

I rented, but it sure is a great game.

I think the bigger flop is Dragon's Dogma was outsold by MH3. ShuichiChamp24

I've seen plenty of advertisements of it on different TV Channels +

here in NYC there Max Payne 3 posters on buses, Time Square, and the train station

Max Payne selling bad in the US doesn't mean it sold bad in the rest of the world.

How does it breakdown per system? I bet more PS3 owners bought this than Starhawk.Grawse

Kind of a shame considering it was a pretty damn good game. Not used to hearing that a Rockstar title flopped in sales, either. Hopefully it continues to sell over time. I didn't think their marketing for it was that great, regardless of money spent and it looks like I may not have been the only one. If I hadn't played the first 2 titles I'd probably have ignored this one, Rockstar or not.

It could be doing much better outside the US... we don't know yet. It's way, way too early to call it anything.

I'm leaning more towards this:
