they got their hands on the final version of the game

To be honest Iwas skeptical of this game at first because it looked way to much like a copy/paste of other 2 NSMB games. But the more I hear about it the better it sounds. Looks like they're really going all out with the whole focus on coins.

Oh and it's also worth mentioning that the game's Japanese release is just 2 days away.

Just in case if you all wanna avoid spoilers on what the game is going to throw at you.

Ignoring that the graphics suck monkey balls, it still looks lazy. Do the coins do anything? Maybe I will be interested if they do. Other than that this is the first time I have not been hyped for a Mario platformer, crazy.

The concept around coins is pretty neat and I sure this game will be good but I just not a fan of the NSMB series, so I have no plans on getting it.

It looks like a NSMB game. Same style we've had since 2006. A very tired formula by now, and the fact there's more coins to collect doesn't change that. It will be a good game, but I'm sorry I just can't get excited for this one.

there's nothing tired about the core formula of mario games.

I do agree that they need to change the art style though and get better music though.

I expect NSMBW to a crappy lazy cash in, and it was an excellent 2D platformer. So, faith in this too :)

Meh. Core gameplay looks tight as usual, but the art style is getting too samey, and that music just sucks gonads. All nintendo need to do is ice the cake, and I'll re-join that hype train along with the other slobbering fanboys.

The game is still a cash grab to get more 3ds's sold and the worst part about it is they're slowing down the gameplay with this coin gimmick. Plus with all these coins won't the game be more easy than usual considering 100 coins gives you an extra life? I think I'll just stick to the wii u one.

you would think that but this hands onsays otherwise

"Though the starting levels are pretty traditional by design, the new drive to top the scores of yourself and friends kept pushing us in the standard stages to go into more challenging areas just for the chance to get more gold. We were looking even more for hidden coin blocks and other secrets, because they'd give us more and more coins as that pushed us towards the ultimate goal of getting a million total. Though collecting a hundred coins still gives you an extra life, that bonus is unneeded in this game, just as extra lives have been fairly inconsequential in Mario games for some time, since even when you run out of lives, a simple Continue starts you basically where you left off. That's why this emphasis on coins feels so unique for the series. Death isn't scary anymore, but finishing a level without scoring high enoughis."

NSMBWii was rather boring to me, but for some reason, I still find myself somewhat interested in this title. The Coin Rush mode looks like it could kick some longevity into the game.

Kind of an unfounded scepticism given how NSMBW already proved that idea wrong.

When SMS uses coins: Tedious, boring, no fun. When NSMB2 uses coins:FUN, INNOVATIVE, AWESOME, GREAT, AMAZING, 5 STARS!, FOUR STARS!, GYROCANNON! SMS is still average at best, but why the sudden change guys?

you're comparing those blue coins in SMS to this? Two completely different cases. One is a rare collectible and the other adds to a score and encourages replayability

So NSMB has gone arcade now... what happens for those who are not interested on topping other people's scores??

A normal mode that will be more of the same of course, thus nothing but a quick cashgrab... so, what else?

Man I loved picking up my friends/brothers and killing them by throwing them off the edge. Everything about the game seems great though.

I've never really cared about getting high scores, so the whole focus on coins in NSMB2 doesn't exactly entice me. Outside of that it looks very samey. The art style of the game is practically identical and seeing that poisonous forest level theme again is making me think NSMB2 is just going to recycle the same world themes used in NSMB and NSMBW, which is very disappointing to me. The only part of the video that really interested me was seeing the huge boo.

I don't know, I'm just not getting very excited for the game. I may just skip it and wait for the Wii U NSMB.
