I was going to post this in the mobile section, but the technology is just too insane. It could change mobile gaming forever.

The final version, STARK, will be 100x more powerful than anything currently in the market.

Eh if you wanna get specific about it, Qualcomm announced a quad core at 2.5GHz first. Knowing Nvidia, this thing will get delayed 6-12 months while Qualcomm will be in phones by then.

Well Tegra 2 was announced January of 2010, and here we are February 2011 and Tegra 2 phones still haven't hit the market :( Though this is planned for a Fall 2011 launch. And Tegra 2 3D (1.2ghz)will launch this spring.

Quad core uses less battery than a dual core or single core. A quad core can do what a single core or dual core can with lower voltage and clock speeds. Example a dual core A9 cortex uses 40% less power than a single core to perform the same task.

That is good to know, but I'm still curious how this will affect battery life. If "x" CPU leads to 1 hour of battery life, the Project Kal-El having 2 hours of battery life isn't impressive one bit. I'll wait to see how this technology is integrated into actual products. And again. Price. Heat.

The new 12-core GPU should save on battery life quite a bit.

Just compare it to any A9 Cortex device on the market today.

BTW this applies to the Tegra 2 vs current A9 single cores:

Well its all relative, if they plan on high resolution, 3D UI (also being displayed in 3D) the battery maybe similar to current devices.

(not gonna quote the above pics) Well, the power usage does look great. :P Thank you for explaining. Still.... price and heat. Just saying. I'd curious to know what those two will be.

The ARM Cotex-A9 could be up to 4 cores it was announced 2 years ago in 2009. Just that no mobile device needed that many cores until the Sony NGP was announced. Nvidia still hasn't released Tegre 3 commercially. So ARM beats it.

Rikusaki
NGP has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 (which the Tegra 3 also uses) and a quad-core POWERVR SGX543.

If this beats a C2D, it looks to be more suited to the netbook/ small laptop market rather than portable devices such as the NGP or 3DS.

Well i got a tegra 2 tablet and it goes for about 7ish hours gaming (10-12 while on the web/ watching movies) at about half brightness with wifi on. Also i cant feel the unit heating up from the cpu/gpu. So i don't think the next tegra will causea device to warm up that much/ drain alot of power since the tegra 3 is more power efficient etc
