NVIDIA= Mobile gaming the future. Will be more powerful than 360/PS3.

Nividia has apparently spoken about mobiles reaching such power that they skip a few gens and be at least 2x as powerful as current gen consoles such as Wii U, 360, and PS3.

Not only that:

The next generation of mobile graphics will be able to deliver better performance than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, according to NVIDIAs (NVDA) SVP of content and technology Tony Tamasi. Speaking to Bit-tech, the executive noted that current gaming systems are barely more powerful

They say RIGHT NOW they are "barely" more powerful. Your thoughts?

u shuld know, nvidia super mad and butthurt amd got contracts for wii u, 720, and ps4. entire console market of 250 million console future machines or more.

Agreed. Post-PC era doesn't take kindly to non-mobile devices. The only device that will be spared is laptop.

lol, NVIDIA right now wants to say anything to bash consoles. They have Tegra 3 & 4 graphics in Moble devices, so they are trying to boost the future of that tech, while lowering anthing that has to do with game consoles, because Sony and MS skipped them with NextGen because there GPU prices sucked.

Until we have games actually taking advantage of the hardware, and being as good as a PS3/360 title it doesn't matter how strong they get.

AMD Temash SoC already rivals/beat Xbox 360 i.e. Dirt Showdown @1080p.

The thing is, who gives a damn? 360/PS3 are dinosaurs already, at the end of the year almost nobody will care because everyone's way too busy playing their new PS4 and maybe 720 if it ever comes out.

The traditional gaming console will always be here.

But there is no way a mobile will catch up to 7970ghz edition anytime soon. And when it does, another monster will be on the shelf that the new mobile cannot match.      Its for this  very reason a Mobile device ( that has to stay small in size)  + the price of these mobiles devices to get clearly inferior graphics for the same money means for me, That mobile gaming will stay mobile gaming.  A casual overpriced terrible waste of time.  Very  few mobile games are even worth a penny. 

Doesn't take much to beat hardware from 2005. The Vita is almost nearly as powerful as the PS3 and that thing came before some major breakthroughs in mobile tech.

Nvidia boasting about their mobile cheaps being 8-9 years behind home ones is pretty silly.

Also..mobile gaming can only support low-prices, short and low-budgeted titles, so good luck finding any dev who could use even this laughable power level.

What cracks me up is the PS3/360 are still more powerful then any of there mobile tech.

I love playing games while I'm walking, on a bike, shopping, locking my door.

Seriously, mobile gaming is overrated. Handhelds are awesome because of their unique games, not because of their mobility. That is why the whole 'console on the go' was a failure.
