Doesn't really bother them that much seeing as how they're buddies with Gaikai which was just bought by Sony, I think AMD was the one that partnered and supplied Onlive
To be honest I don't like cloud gaming. Imagine a kid waking up on Christmas morning and their parents bought them a new video game
"Merry Christmas son! We got you a new game, we already downloaded it onto your virtual account. We couldn't wrap it but it's on there.So...enjoy it."
There's nothing quite like opening a new game box.
As General_X pointed out, caps are a big problem for cloud gaming, it can already be pretty hard to stay under when it comes to downloading, imagine streaming, especially when you go for a big marathon. Also, I doubt the current infrastructure in most countries wouldn't be able to handle that many people streaming such big content and for that long. While cloud gaming will definitely come around, we still have a long way to go.EliteM0nk3y
I think we could see it around early - mid 20's (sounds so weird saying that).

That's a pretty insignificant part of gaming, IMO, even if you do have a point. I wouldn't not take the advantages of cloud gaming over something like that. Anyway, I'm sure they can wrap, say, a DVD box that's cover presentably explains the gift, if they want to.
lol word. or like santa clause left you something on steam....To be honest I don't like cloud gaming. Imagine a kid waking up on Christmas morning and their parents bought them a new video game

Maybe in the future but next gen not going to happen because not everyone has a network to connect to the internet and there are just too many factors for that to be possible right now.

Yeah they'll be like
"Yeah Jimmy we gave Santa your steam password and he downloaded all the games you wanted onto your account."
they crash and burn because internet sucks ATM for it.lol nvidia , that is funny because onlive just gone through financial troubles of some sort , so id like to know where you come up with that analagy

As long as data caps are still a thing in major parts of the world I highly doubt Cloud Gaming will catch on.General_XAnd it's only getting worse, unless Google Fiber magically changes everything.

AMD's cloud gaming partner and investment is CiiNOW MS's cloud gaming partner is AgawiYou could wrap up $50 in credit money so the kid would wrap it up then download the game of choice for the kid. But you actually made a nice point. I had digital media.. physical all the way!To be honest I don't like cloud gaming. Well we've already had the agricultural revolution, the industrial revolution and the digital revolution.. step 4 is ready google :)
Umm doesnn't nvidia realize that this would actually hurt their business? The only business they would have left would be their Quadro GFX line of cards and the cards being sold to the cloud companies. All the consumer GPUs would go away if cloud gaming took over, and if it does then count me out, I'll replay my old games.
Everytime a new mmo comes out its a huge fiasco, similar issues would occur with cloud gaming. Imagine COD or Halo on launch day and millions trying to login and play at the same time. P2P multiplayer is already a huge lagfest and would be at least twice as bad with cloud gaming.

Yeah, and run my AT&T imposed data cap of 150 GB up in a few days. I really don't think so.you know that cloud gaming will eventually destroy PC gaming too right? With the 100% erradication of all video game piracy, cloud gaming will be just too attractive for ANY dev to not be exclusive to it (since the anti-piracy aspect will only work if it's exclusive)http://www.computerandvideogames.com/369711/next-gen-consoles-will-be-the-last-nvidia/

Correct me if I'm wrong but even if console gaming shrinks down there will still be a market for it wouldn't there? I dare not say how well internet connections will go up over the next 5 years because technology moves fast but some people will never accept cloud gaming and you can't change their minds.
that's actually really smart dude. good thinking.Hmm...Nvidia seems jealous just because nobody wants their GPU on a console. Oh Nvidia!

Some form of cloud service is propably the future, but not onlive-kind, where all the processing is done off-server and then streamed. That's too inefficent solution for the "we can't afford good hardware" problem. It's also dead-end, as we are going to eventually reach a point where a smartphone will be able to run anything you throw at it, so graphics will just depend on developer, not on your hardware. When we reach this point, it will make onlive-like service completely useless.
But yeah, consoles will die out. I think they have two more gens in them though, not just one
Lag also has a HUGE part in why it won't happen for at least another 20-30 years.
Places like the south pacific and Oceania (Singapore, Australia, Malaysia) have a HUGE gaming audience but are very far away from where most of the action is happening. So lag makes it literally impossible to play PvP online without an enormous disadvantage.
That's online though, but it still won't happen without putting servers in almost EVERY country.
I just can't see cloud gaming being viable for many years yet. It will be ruined by low bandwidth speeds and horrible lag to the point where it is unplayable.OhJayDubya
People keep saying the same thing:
It won't happen for many years!
I agree, but just how many years are "many" years, exactly? Nvidia says next gen will be the last. Given that next gen will likely not kick off for another year or year and a half, given that next gen is predicted ot last even longer than this one, we're talking a total of 10-12 years from now.
What was the internet situation in 2000 vs what it is now? I was still on dial-up in 2000, and PC games were the only games that had robust online compoenents. Consoles were still stuck off-line.
Fast forward to now, and the majority of the country is on broadband. Everyone is online because facebook. Almost all console and PC games contain online components, and many games and consoles RELY on an internet connection to be updated and funciton properly. Hell, almost no one I knew had a cellphone, and now everyone I know not only has a cell phone, but they all smartphones with onbline capabilities and angry birds.
Do you really think in 12 years things won't significantly change?
I bet you guys $20 that it does.
nvidia is just mad that console gamers dont care about their products , as long as there is demand for consoles with physical games then they will be produced and sold , even vinyl records are still being pressed and sold because there is still certain demand even in todays mp3-download age

Intel Haswell GT3 will destroy NVIDIA's mid range i.e. Intel Haswell GT3 was shown to play Skyrim @1080p and high details, while AMD catches up with Steamroller (with double the decoder units).
NVIDIA only has about 15 percent of the PC GPU/IGP market and zero for next gen consoles.
Qualcomm has a home run with Snapdragon S4 Pro (Adreno 320 is based on AMD Xenos IP).
