Well, most laptops I see on sale have the GT(insert number here)m series so I'm sure it has to do something with it. Most laptop buyers dont care about what video cards they come with. It has nothing to do with Nvidia benchmark cards being more popular, wich I'm not denying they are, just not at that huge percentage.

Not surprising, AMD rebranded most of their 300 series lineup and produced an underwhelming flagship. Much as I despise NVIDIA and their business practices, AMD's recent offerings are inexcusable.

Amazon £50 2nd hand? Anywhere second hand? You'll be amazed what you can get second hand. Some people build computers with cheaper, older, but higher end parts.

For example a for the cost of a brand new current 950, I think you can get an older higher end AMD or Nvidia card that'll still do a great job today. That's the benefit of buying high end parts, they last ages, that doesn't change for new buyers of older high end parts.

If you happen to live in Denmark, I have an I7-920 in my drawer, that I'd litterally give away for free ;)

That's not my point..

You can get the PS4/X1 second-hand too.

a new i3 + GTX 950 at 450$ should completely destroy the consoles, they don't need to show second hand products for PC having superior hardware.

my point was that if you're going to do a build, do it with new parts.. otherwise consolites shall come in say they could get a PS4 or X1 for second-hand too :D

I don't like the idea of building my new PC out of old parts I find online. I feel like we're better off trying to build the best PC we can for as cheap as possible, even if it's $200 more than a console.

Unless their point is, how far can they go back to find competitive but affordable parts. 'We wanted to show PC gaming could be just as cheap and even better than on a gaming console'.

not good. hopefully the resturcturing will allow the graphics division to refocus. i think they were pulled apart a bit by the APU business (which was a good idea in fairness). the hardware is good. if they can get their driver to perform better also then that would be really good.

i do want to go team red for my next machine (blue and green are in my current laptop) but it will be a linux box and AMD do not shine there at all (unless its openCL...openCL and AMD are a beast). they are doing some things that will hopefully improve that though. they are far better than nvidia about releasing documentation for driver development and now they are putting more resources into the OSS driver so hopefully a good return comes of that.

hopefully this crimson driver is also more than just a branding exercise. im not expecting it to have a major performance bump over the current catalyst but hopefully its the start of a bigger effort to squeeze more performance out of the driver.

@kozio:

It doesn't add Intel/AMD IGPs since it reduces the need for low end add-in boards.

cuz you know not much of the PC parts market apparently....just dont buy from stupid places and you'll be fine..ESPECIALLY a CPU ..I would never hesitate to get a 2nd hand CPU
