Not everyone wants to build a PC themselves, but yes it does cost more to buy pre-built and the 600 Dollar PC most hermits talk about here are the total costs of parts which they put together themselves.

Also TC you cant do a simple conversion from Euro to US when comparing prices since it costs more here in europe. I mean if I tried to build the same PC here in the UK as someone in the US you can bet it will end up costing me much more.

I tried other games like the witcher and clive jericho on my PC.... The witcher looks horrible, not even close to anything on the 360. Cliver Jericho i need to play without AA, and even then it has unstable framerate. 360 version is way better (the game itself still sux).

well i can run withcer maxed out on 1440x900 with no aa and no af, it looks good enough for me and i have a single core and a 6800gs, but i havent tryed running crysis or jericho yet.

Hermits have always advocated building your own rig and have put up the specs for the hardware necessary for a good economical gaming rig.

Also in the past, hermits have put up websites to reputable, cost effective pre-build PC's to cater to the argument that not everyone may feel comfortable building a PC.

TC, you didn't heed any of the advice and then you call hermits liars. :(

Close all background tasks, updates drivers, remove all preinstalled crap, remove Norton/Mcafee if preinstalled etc etc.

The Witcher is a good game and the graphics are really impressive.

BTW, I'm running an AMD 4400 at 2.3 ghz, and 8500gt, with 2 gigs of ram, and yeat somehow, I'm acheiving graphical bliss where you are choking.WITH VISTA! First off if you having actual performance issues, did you try checking your backroun tasks? When you buy a PC, it comes loaded with "Crap-ware". Running the PC decrapifier (just google it, it's freeware) should remove that. Then, bring up the taskmanager. Close all owner initiated tasks, which are ones marked with your username. Leave Explorer.exe running.Then, I'd advise you to check you startup list. See what programs are starting, and close all nonesential ones. many of them waste precious ram, and clockspeed. once you optimized that, I'd reccomend you download Adavnced Windows Care,or Glary Utilities, and run the system optimization. Restart, and you should be running signigantly faster. If you are still having performance issues, try running a spyware scan.

Also, You bought a computer from a company that sell primarily to businesses, so it may come with factory settings that would optimixze it for that sort of thing.Plus, Vista is still terribly ineffeicent as of yet, and needs a lot of updates. Early adopters get screwed.

thats because pre built pc's are 3times more expensive, and wont perform very well for its price, so complining about a expensive pre built rig that wont run games is pointless really, if i had an accer or a dell i woudnt expect to play games on it.
