Oh my freaking god. I have went to many forums the past few days and no one has even brought this subject up. I mean the NXE has been out a few days and I would've expected someone to notice. I have to express my feelings about Microsoft's terrible decisions. When they see an obstacle in their way they throw money at it (I've checked Wiki -- their yearly earnings are no where near Sony's) why they aren't broke yet is beyond me especially with the state our economy is in. My point is all you heard about was this NXE and how it was gonna change your xbox forever. LIES! there is nothing new about the NXE. People who own Wii's will notice the avatars. They may look slightly different but the basic design is there. People who own Playstation 3's will notice the XMB. YES!! That's right I said it. Their new interface reminds a whole lot of sony's system. You scroll up for a category and left and right for sub categories. RIP-OFF!!! That's the problem with Microsoft.
Maybe if Microsoft keeps throwing money at different problems they'll will go bankrupt. I for one believe if Mircosoft was out of the gaming picture then we might just see a whole lot more (and better) steps in innovation. Not just the same re-hashed ideas with theire name slapped on it.
Actually, NXE is great for two reasons thus far. One, installing a game means no more spinning disc, yay! And two, the party system allows you to join with friends before playing a game without worrying that a game disconnect will make you lose contact. Seriously, it's aobut time.

IMO the installs of games is notthing major since it doesnt help most games but makes them worst. The only thing I give em props for is the party chat, but that could of been done ages ago without Avatars and crap included.

Is it the case that you can boot it without the disc? Have you tried it? Can you remove it after the game starts?
The only thing I cared about in the update was the party chat, nothing else really, but I do think it's better than the blades. I also don't see these comparisons to the XMB, they just don't have any similarites to be honest.

I think you need to do some fact checking... Just glancing over the wikipedia page... Microsoft Net Income: $17.681 Billion Sony Net Income: $3.694 Billion Microsoft: Market Cap: $230 Billion Sony Market Cap: $36.83 Billion I think we'll be seeing a broke Sony long before we see a broke Microsoft. Now, onto the interface itself. Yes, the NXE dashboard is highly reminiscent of the XMB (except reversed) and the avatars are ripped off of the Wii but there are plenty of new features to be found in the NXE that weren't in the original dashboard and the entire experience is a hell of a lot more user friendly (Expanded guide menu and Party system FTW).

MS was very clear what NXE would include and delivered on all of it. The netflix option is nice, so is downloading the game to the hd, the chat option is awesome and the menus are fast and clean. I like it, it's no more than what I expected!

Yeah, exactly. It's a dashboard update. It's free. Why are people complaining? It's like winning an Enzo Ferrari and then complaining because it's not the color you wanted.

Wasn't the original Playstation rather faulty? I would use the PS2 as an example, but that would actually help your point. >_> :P Anyway, you have a point, MS will probably need to prove their next system's reliability before they can really take off.

The PS2 had a reputation for being unreliable (DRE anyone?) and it hasn't hurt the PS3's sales much. Before anyone compares the PS3's sales to the PS2's, remember, it's "slow" sales can be mostly attributed to its high price more than anything. Anyway, consumers are a fickle bunch. You can crap on them one day then give them roses the next and they'll forget it ever happened. Hell, it's the only reason I can figure as to why GameStop is still in business.
I wouldn't say NXE is a complete rip-off (besides the avatars). But MS really seemed inspired by Miis, XMB, and Home; as far as navigation and social interactions/representations. NXE is a welcomed improvement. I like it, but I'm still iffy about the avatars.

Sure they copied Mii's, but no one brings it up, because it has already been brought up, and everyone know it is copied just as much as trophies were copied from MS, and how sony copied motion control.Â

Trust me, I really don't think the hardware issues this generation will be hurting their sales next generation. Especially considering the fact that the 360 warranty was THREE years. Yeah they had faulty hardware, but they certainly stepped up to take care of consumers. If you're alluding to anything outside of that with your reputation comment, I honestly don't know what you could mean. It's a great system with the best lineup and the best online service. If anything the 360 has solidified the X Box brand rather than hurt it.

You may want to check a website that is a little more reliable for this type of information other than a Wiki that anyone can edit. Perhaps a financial website just for thoughts. Not doing your research make your argument a little less valid.
MS has done some interesting stuff in this Gen. Like achievements. unified online and other things. Look at all of the different companies that copied the achievement idea. Sony, Blizzard.

I fail to see how a free update is a rip-off. Especially when it adds worthwhile new features and improves on or is equal to the old system in every way.
tc is talking rubbish, microsofts operational income (including windows) is 4 times what sonys is, windows costs a fair bit and is installed on several million pc's world wide so i don't think they will be going broke any time soon.
MS makes more net profits than Sony or Ninty. You are looking at the wrong financial information. On to my second point. How is something that is free a rip off? That seems to contradict logic.

So, you have seen the party system the netflix service (movies at the touch of a botton) and the fast user interface in another console? If you consider NXE mediocre, what do you consider what the other consoles have?
