I decided to play oblivion for a little while today and remembered how much fun the game actually was after all this time. It's aged a little but walking through towns summoning daedric minions to destroy entire towns is still hilarious. I've googled Elder Scolls V and searched everywhere. Where is the light for ES V? Why has Bethseda not announced anything? Is the series done for a while?

Help a fanboy out.

I love all the ES games, I really do hope they announce a new one, it's really all I'd need at E3 to be satisfied, along with maybe somethin killer by Rare and Insomniac too I guess.

Oblivion was a mess so many problems. The level scaling ruined it, it was way too repetitive, and many aspects of the game were broken (stealth being one which was major disappointment)

Well considering that they are currently not developing any titles, ES V could be announced this very E3 (I certainly hope so)

Daggerfall > Morrowind > Oblivion I don't know what it was about Daggerfall that dragged me in, I only played it for maybe 20 or 30 hours, but I enjoyed it by far the most. I eventually got into a situation deep in a dungeon that was impossible to win and i had no recent saves.

So because you don't like a game you'd want to deprive millions of people what they want?

I have a lot of high hopes for Elder Scrolls V. The first being that the main campaign isn't as damn boring as Oblivion.

I second this statement. Not a fan of Bethesda at all. I always thought as far as RPG developers go they were pretty dull.

Combat is far more simplistic then a game like Demon's Souls, mostly mash to victory, just more stats behind it. I would not really recommend it, I like most of the games that are your favorites.

It sucks that they haven't announced crap for it yet. I have a bad bad feeling zenimax is making tes V an mmo. (they are working on one) which really pisses me off. First kotor and possibly TES. Which would suck. Why can't they just make their fans happy and make a new TES game? It doesn't need to be on new hardware.

i found Oblivion more fun to explore because you met all kinds of crazy characters out in the middle of nowhere. In Fallout, the only people in the wastelands were trying to kill you lol. I do think Fallout had the better story and locations. I had fun for hours just exploring other vaults :P The wastelands were lame and boring though :P

Imagine Demon's Souls, but more light hearted, instead of the precision combat, you kind of just swing randomly when you push attack. Imagine every enemy has the lamest and poorest AI ever, and will never try to do much to kill you. Now imagine that there are about 5 different NPC models and you will see them everywhere, they also always have the same handful of voices. You will see a beggar on the street have the same voice actor as major villans and such. You can even have 2 NPCs with the same voice having a conversation. Talk about immersive, right? Now imagine that the map is covered in dozens upon dozens of caverns, dungeons, and the likes for you to visit! Except by the time you get to the 2nd, then the third, then the 4th, you realize they all look exactly the same, have the same general purpose, and you fight the same general enemies. If you love main story lines, Oblivion's goes for a cool maybe 6 hours, and is completely uninteresting.

Really, i can't stand daggerfall. and I am a fan of rogue-likes. But Daggerfall took random generation to the extreme where there were 100000s of towns all basically the same and took hours just to find a damn quest or store. I prefered might and magic, eye of the beholder, gold box games and ultima back then.

I said I don't know what made me like it. :o It had this air about its atmosphere or something, that drew me into it. Its not really rogue-like to randomly generate stuff though, roguelikes are more to do with random generation, plus ultra difficulty and losing everything (or almost everything) when you die.

I agree, but i told no lies. I put over 100 hours into the game and did every single side-quest outside one or two, it was with about 30 mods on, but meh. Everything I said I still found to be huge flaws though. So many things ruined the immersion in that game, and without immersion, the rest of the game falls apart. The NPC thing is the worst part, Dragon Age has a ton of NPCs too, but they hired like over 100 voice actors so its rare to hear more then 2 or 3 unrelated NPCs have the same voice, much less one guy literally talking to himself.

Just started playing PS3 IV GotYE and its great. Im doing the Nine quest for the crusade items just got the sword. I am a Dark Elf. Like the sword play and bow use. Also the destruction spells are good. But they do not have enough int for big spells but the makina grows really fast.

Its a good game. LOTS of voice acting wich I like over just reading. WOW could learn from this. Need to come up with a limited way to play in other peoples world. Allow 32 people to play at one time in a world. When a ques is done then it should be done like a single player game. Like RED DEAD Rev. allow a grop to go after bigger targets. ALSO I hope they make a MMO.

[QUOTE="110million"][QUOTE="navyguy21"]its not, he is just one of the people who doesnt like it. you should read some reviews and watch some video reviews on youtube. its a great game, but not without its faults like any other game.gaming25

You put over 100 hours in it? But I thought you didn't like the game?

Yea i don't see why or how you could play it for over 100 hours if you weren't enjoying it...

I played oblivion on pc, and I loved everything about it, although I had a huge amount of mods installed too the game was simply amazing, Did the sidequest jobs for thief, soldier, assassin never even touched the story every time I wanted to go do the story I went doing another sidequest...

[QUOTE="siLVURcross"]Hopefully non-existent. Never did like the ES series.

Why'd you come to the thread to contribute that? It seems rather silly to join a thread obviously discussing how good a series is, to bash it. As far as ESV, Bethsedia has said that it's "in production" for some capacity but that it was a ways off. The last time they spoke about it was before Fallout 3 came out and they said don't expect it to be the next game after Fallout 3. Who knows if they were talking about all the Fallout 3 DLC, New Vegas, or any plethora of other games they have in the works. I really hope however that ESV is announced at E3. Which I feel has a decent chance of happening.

I put in about 100 hours and just quit one day, about a year ago, and never went back. I was closing the second Daedric gate outside of some town and just got bored. Its massive and beautiful and filled with repetition. I love exploring in games, but that game was just my kryptonite. Every 50 feet there's another thing to explore, but they just end up being the same. And the level scaling was awful. Even with a mod, it was still bad. I don't want the creatures to get more powerful in the same places I killed something weak earlier. It was strong when I was weak, and now that I'm strong it should be weak. But no, its been replaced with something else to make me feel like a dandelion.
