What do you think are the odds of Crysis coming to the consoles? And don't say it definetly won't, because there's a chance no matter what. I never thought Gears would go to the PC, and I never saw Oblivion coming to the PS3..or PSP. Well, just give your opinion. Thanks!1vgfan
I never doubted Gears would come to PC ever since it was first announced.
Crysis as itself may not come to consoles, but a watered down spin-off is likely.
slim and none.Trading_Zoner
This. The memory issue will prevent the same game coming out on consoles. They could create a spinoff which would be another typical linear shooter, but I dont think Crytek would do that, they dont want to go under there quality bar they have set for the PC
I read in Official Playstation Mag UK that someone at Crytek hinter about one of their games coming to PS3, I think it was Crysis, but I still doubt that it will come to consoles.ShmenonPie
that rumor was completely destroyed.... Crytek is porting the engine, but not Crysis. Crysis on consoles won't happen, EVER. Crytek said that at least 400 times.

Nobody cares about the game. They care about the engine . How many pics were posted saying "look at these graphics" . Gameplay doen't look too great ... kinda noobish if you ask me.(Far Cry 2 looks better.

Man, the gameplay in Crysis is awesome. Every time someone says Crysis doesn't have gameplay they get completely owned. And Crytek is having to tone down the engine so it can work on consoles.
It will happen. Crytek did it with Far Cry, they'll do it with this. It'll be a different game in some ways, but the same general thing. It will happen.fatzombiepigeon
Crytek didn't port Far Cry. Infact, they hated that Ubisoft did that so much that they left Ubisoft and jumped ship to EA. EA won't be stupid enough to alienate their best developer.
likely.
Odds of it being as good visually? You would be pissing upa rope/against the wind if you anticipated that game to look as good anywhere else but on a pc.

What why? Didnt you ever read who made GOW. The people who made Unreal tournament for god sake, christ, why do developers even bother writing their name on the front. The devs i.e. Epic Games are a well known dev for PC games. Why the hell wouldnt they release a game onto the PC? It was only because of the smell of cash from microsoft which gave them a reason to plonk a very buggy game onto the 360 first. Ever since they started to design the game you didnt think to realize they would be making it for PC, only better?. The Unreal 3 engine is made use of a little better in the PC version, but i think microsoft will be updating GOW to the pc standard a little while after the PC version is released.
Anyway back to crysis, very unlikely that game will see consoles, mainly because there is no doubt in my mind the cryteck engine is being used for a console related game right this minute. The story-line isnt "noobish" you foolish person, its realistic i.e. you actually have to take responsibility for what you do in the game, how you go about objectives and such, you need to actually make choices and plan a strategy, if you dont, you die, unless your a wheener and go on "Easy". Its a non-linear game, but has a straight forward story-line to keep you entertained. a "noobish" game which you describe would best fit "GOW" "Shadow Run" "Halo series", because they are linear, and under no circumstances are you allowed to disobey the devs, nothing but a 5 year old is required to get through the lvls, and kids that age actually do, hence why consoles are inevitable crap compared to PC's. Im not a child, and i dont want to commune with immature children. The audience the console attracts are idiots i.e. people that will end up behind a counter, because they are fundamentally incapable of solving equations. Of course this is only a small portion who play on a console, but I guarantee that only 1/100 or less is the fraction of people who are actually worth competing with on a console, or wont try and insult you in some way because you seem to be better then them without using an aim-bot. Many friends of mine have said that the 360 is becoming annoying because of the community. The chavs are taking over :O.

You think? If this game gets big they will do everything in their power to port it. It will get some kind of sidestory or alternate universe or whatever. I will be a different but similar game running with downgrade. But it will happen.

I know, dont you just hate that? Ubisoft was the biggest porting publisher/developer ever!. Although porting isnt necessarily bad, but ubisoft really did take the cake, Prince of Persia being a very very bad one. Its just so crap on PC. Assassins Creed looks awsome but they have probably not concentrated on the PC version, and itll end up having menus which u scroll through with arrow keys, and controlling a character where you have to centre the cam every time you turn. Its going to make me cringe. Atleast i have a PS3 lol :D
I'd bet that we are going to see the Crytek engine on the PS3. Since they were looking for Ps3 programmers and not 360 coders. I don't think crysis will make it.. but Crysis is just the game. You could do amazing things with that engine.Wil4hireLink?

Crysis is EA's investment. If they want to publish Crysis 2 and 3, since they don't own the IP, they won't touch Crysis in ANY WAY. Crytek owns everything Crysis. All EA does is published the game and does voice-overs. EA won't be stupid enough to even try to ask Crytek to do something they don't want to until Crytek has signed on for Crysis 2 and 3, and Crytek won't do that until they start each of those individual games. Also, EA needs to plan on getting on Crytek's good side so Crytek will sign to have EA publish their 2 other new IP's. Trust me, no matter how big Crysis gets, EA is not going to touch the game, there is just way too much future money on the line.

That's cool and all, but I've been a PC gamer forever. I have no doubts about it happening later on down the road in some way. Even if it seems unlikely, I won't cross my fingers in hope it wont.

They aren't hiring 360 programmers because the 360 is so much like a PC. They have very skilled PC programmers that understand how the 360 is built. The PS3 however, is a mystery to them. They are like "OMGWTFBBQ... How does this Cell thing work??" And thats fine because nobody knows how the Cell works.... not even Sony.

Maybe if Crytek decides they want to, but don't believe that EA is going to have influenced that in any way, shape or form. EA is scared to lose Crytek because Crytek literally symbolizes $300 million dollars or moreof possible money that EA can earn. I think thats enough money to have EAnot touchCrysis unless its witha 40 foot pole.
