*****Official Folklore Hype Thread***** (Please Sticky)

The Playstation 3's answer to Lost Oddysse? We'll see. For now, all Playstation 3 owners were blessed with the opportunity to dive into a long and very well done Folklore English Demo. Please only give your grade (A-AAAA) and not an explaination. Hype this game appropriately, and let's not turn this into another Lair, ok?

AAAA = 10

AAA = 9.0 - 9.5

AA = 8.0 - 8.5

A = 7.0 - 7.5

PS3 Action Adventure/RPG exclusive. Think Final Fantasy meets Soul Reaver with a dark, mysterious storyline involving the Netherworld.

-No voice acting (at least in the demo). Weird, because Monster Kingdom on PSP was fully voiced (quite well), too. Guess Atlus cares about Sony games more than Sony does :P

-Pretty generic. Pre-Rendered backgrounds.

-Nothing "next gen" about it, except:

+ The SIXAXIS control for capturing monsters is pretty fun.

+ Seems to be a good variety of mosters too use as weapons.

I really like the visuals in folklore...

However, when I played the demo, it was a bit repetitive. Still I think this will still be a solid addition to anyones rpg library, just dont expect FF level ooompf.

I think it will appeal to most dedicated JRPG gamers, a good once through. If I have to predict a score, I would see it at a solid 7.0 range, whatever that translates into your goofy AAA AAAAAAAAAA aAa AAA system you all got.

I think from what I got from the trailers, those comicbook storyline bits are not in the full game, only the demo. The trailers suggest there is full voice-acted cut scenes and CGs for storytelling. I could be wrong though.

This game wont' even get A....is there a rating for less than A?

I'm being completely serious after playing the demo....this game is trash. It's a shame PS3 RPG's hopes this year rest on the shoulders of this game, specially when X360 is offering better RPGs to choose from (BlueDragon, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and Lost Odessy).

No, we haven't hyped yet. I hype AA, but it looks like according to this thread we're in B-A range people!

There was some evident lag. We'll have to see how that goes. Outside of that, I found the targetting and dodge system very well done and the sixaxis controls are easy if not spectacular. Too bad we can't say the same about Lair huh?
