If Sony had a set release date it would've been announced at E3. Instead they barely talked about the damn game, in fact, weren't people told to not ask questions about it? I really would not count on a 2009 release.

so in all fairness it could be possible we get release dates at TGS.Also its a perfect time to launch and Yamauchi is able to patch post launch so that could help a little get a good stable game on the shelf with minimal bugs and eradicate the rest over time.unlike the days of the Ps2 where they couldnt patch.

And like any retailer they are prone to leaking release dates same with the ESRB listings where we have seen many a time games appearing and people going :o.

The next few weeks after that should be interesting for sure. I imagine the board will be covered with comparsions as time leads up the wonderful time of the year the game of the year is selected.

Or even better... when people get to play BOTH games themselves. Ill be more interested in the overall reviews and myself playing both games instead of what sells more.

To me its all about which game is more fun to play.

@razgriz: The most important, and most popular Sony game this generation isn't going to get a leaked date. It is going to have an official press event. You can't build hype by leaking a date to a retail website.

true but the PSP go was inevitably leaked aswell in aswell as Team ICO's project.In a sense it makes you wonder anything is actually possible :P both of them were officially announced at press events.

While the state of the game may be ready for release, the release itself would require months of preparation. Marketing spend would need to doneat least three months in advance to secure tv, magazine and website time. Also, during X-mas time just getting your game manufactured requires a heady advance as all the disc manufacturers are booked months in advance of the X-mas shopping period because they will be working around the clock to produce all the discs. So unless Sony and PD are at this moment making the marketing spend and securing disc burning time, there is no chance they will be releasing this holiday. They can't just decide at a moment of their choosing to release the game, the pure logistics of marketing and production prove otherwise.

But on another note, play.com has also been putting up dates for a lot of other games. Star Wars: The Old Republic was also "confirmed" for November 27th if Play.com is to be taken seriously.

Well it was actually priced at $499 and $599 and the $499 offered more then the $399 XBOX by far... How does that make SONY stupid? They had expenses and I'm sure at first the system cost a lot just to manufacture and distribute. Sell for $399 would've made them loose so much money I don't think they would even be thinking about a next generation. Also their strategy is to be around for 10 years. Starting off with a heavy price tag which would make up for your cost and lowering it little by little would eventually pay off for them as now they have sold more then 360's within the same time period. Anyways this thread isn't about SONY as I can careless about system manufacturers. The games are where it's at and I don't think Sony will allow PD to release it WAY after Forza 3. It would be bad publicity and they would loose money because of GT fans switching to Forza.
