Very low power, but you can get a surprisingly decent system on a 250w PSU.

yeah, optimizations will undoubtedly come as well. as we can see with current gpu's and hardware coming down the road power consumption isn't everything.

It's still a massive step up to what the current consoles are capable of. In return this is a good thing for all games especially the focus on 64 bit architecture.

there's now a much greater cushion for catering to the lowest common denominator. Which is great, because these last few years have been trying in that respect with regards to linearity and level design, AI, etc.

It won't pull more than 150 watts. But that is still a LOT of juice for a console.

For comparison, Wii U pulls about 35 watts.

Looks good. Doesn't need an external power brick either. Must make efficient use of the wattage. They were smart to go with a mobile CPU, less heat means a longer life span. Mobile tech has come so far in recent years thanks to an explosion in laptop sales and now a push towards tablets.

250w is a lot actually....But I doubt the PS4 will use that much at all times, even when playing a game.

1 year. All it needs. Development cycles are going to be accelerated as we put distance between this generation and the next. No more Cell and Power PC to gum things up. The faster people adopt PS4 and XBox One (to a lesser degree) the quicker games will come out.

My PC absolutely obliterates the PS4 and XB1 combined. Completely and utterly one hundred percently destroys it and defocates on its scattered remains.
