What should we use as the official score for a game to be considered AA or AAA.

Through option four lies madness.

I voted for Gamespot. Not that I really "go" by their opinion (or by anyone's opinion exclusively), but we are indeed in System Wars in gamespot. It's kinda the purpose.

Gamespot. Sure GS's credibility is shot, but it's not like IGN (owned by News Corp), GT (owned by a publisher, MTV), 1Up/EGM (just plain shoddy reviews) et al. are pictures of perfection. And since gamerankings/metacritic include highly suspect scores (I'm looking at you Play Magazine) you can't say any other source is definitively more credible than GS.

Metacritic.

It doesn't produce its own scores, it averages out everyone else's so, while every reviewer reviews one or two games unfairly in the opinion of many, metacritic provides an average which shows how lots of critics rate a game rather than one.

Gamespot. The old Gamespot regime shall not fall!

:P

But seriously, if you're on Gamespot forums, you're going to use Gamespot scores to decide whether a game 'flops' or not.

@donwoogie-

Your sig is awesome. O.o

Lol, cheers mate, if you want, I can show you how I did it?

Oh, and, tbf, I use gamespot for reviews. But for finding scores generally I use metacritic. I only wish GS has more video reviews. Since Alex, Jeff, Ryan and Jason left, the number of video reviews have understandably dropped. Kotaku says they are going on a massive employment binge atm though :P

If you wouldn't mind. :) I'm guessing you just had the eye patch transparent and then used a gif maker program to add in the footage? Since this is off topic we may want to use PMs though. >_>

Anyway, I don't use reviews when I'm buying games. I ask other people about it or buy games that I know I will like.

This is what I usually do, when I'm interested in a game, I usually want to see a few good reviews to sway my decision for purchasing these games that cost up to $60 bones.

Gamespot boards need to use GS reviews.

Alot of them I dont agree with (Lost Odyssey comes to mind), but that makes for a good debate among the posters here.

So basically your ignorant? The whole point of system wars is people fighting over which system is better with the better games. Your telling me that we should use 1 persons review to decide if a game flops or not? You never see Microsoft or sony referring to Gamespot in thier keynotes but they always use metacritic or gamerankings. Also many companies give bonuses to employees if the game they make scores higher than a certain percentage on gamerankings or metacritic.

heres the links

Don't you think your view is a little narrowminded?

So far more people want to use an alternate source other than gamespot.

Its a big deal to me. I spend my day thinking about how cool it will be the next time cows get owned. Im a lemming and i think we should use metacritic personally. Just because we are on gamespot doesn't mean we have to use gamespot reviews as the law of the land.

You can argue any way you want if you Put up your own Facts about it... Reviews are Just Opinion... You will never truly be able to claim Ownage in the Gaming World... If you try to say something bad about sony I could always bring up somthing just as bad about MS or Nintendo...

I like Metacritic. It gives the overall average from all sources that reviewed the game.

I dont think we should have to solely use gamespot's reviews. Yes we're on their forums, but that doesnt mean I agree with what they say. We're already using their website, so I doubt they really care if we agree with their opinions. If we're on here to have intelligent debates on which games and systems are better in our eyes, then we should look at the majority of opinions and not just one. Gamespot provides the arena (which is awesome of them, mega props!) now its up to us to find our weapon's of choice.

To those saying we are on gamespot forums the truth is were actually on cnet forums because gamespot is owned by cnet. GAmerankings and Metacritic are also owned by cnet therefore we should decide which cnet source we should use. GAmerankings, GAmespot, or Metacritic.
