I instantly call BS on this article for the "No-Used" Games nonsense.
Half if not Most of the Xbox Community plays Used Games. That's some serious backlash waiting to happen.

Like I said to the other guy, people said the same thing abot XBL and they said it again when they raised the price of Gold Membersip. Everyone on here thought that the whole thing about MS rasing the price of Gold was just a dumb rumor and it wouldn't happen because MS wasn't "stupid to do that" and that "people wouldn't put up with it" ya guess what? Those rumors turned out to be true and people just took it up the butt from MS, hell some even tried to DEFEND it!
So your only being naive if you don't think MS won't try this, we as gamers should all be worried about this. This is MS we are talking about, you do know what that means don't you? I'm not trying to be a fanboy or anything, I'm telling you the truth. MS would do this in a heartbeat because they know their fans will keep taking thier crap, they proved it again recentlywhen they stopped making exclusives.
Meh, won't effect me but it is a bad model. If they do this, I see them doing have EA has done and charge for the pass to be able to use the games or unluck features of games.
People saying you wont buy if it were true if they done this thing with used games.
But i'd bet you wouldnt think twice bout buying a game on a PC with DRM systems and CD keys or even Steam authentication.
So much pot calling the kettle black in here. Its the way its evolving for consoles ableit a decade later than the PC market.

Now, Locking out Used games (if true)
Blu ray still doesn't matter for the development of games, however it is becoming the standard format for movies so why wouldn't they have that in their next console? I bet you're one of those lickspittle morons that says Blu ray is needed to make a next gen game, am I right?TLHBO

Maybe they'll ban only exclusives? Which would be 5 games per gen.silversix_Hey, nice way of sneaking in a hyperbolic slam into the mix - it really elevated the discussion.
If it locks out used games, does that mean you couldn't take a game to a friend or family members house to play it?Nuck81If you were logged in to your account, perhaps.
So now you're posting in this topic even though you just created another identical one?If that's true then I'm gonna laugh when this system flops because of this.

You're an IDIOT, really. Why so bitter?
BR may not be an utmost importance, but it surely has made an impact on MS to decided to put one in their next console.;)
Blu-ray has been around for 6 years. MS is practically 6 years late in the game. All of a sudden NOW they're adopting it?
For a super duper hightech software/hardware company, MS should have KNOWN better,..... earlier. And this situation is surely to make an ass out of most Lemmings who shun BR as a gaming format. And prefer to SWITCH discs over install time
Games are getting bigger and BR, thanks to Sony, is direly needed next gen. Not just in movies.

I really hate Xbox Live. I'm forced to pay Microsoft for what I'm getting Free everywhere else, and that's why I pay for it, so I could play Online when I want to, and I hate it.
But Xbox Live doesn't tell me when I put in a used copy of Mass Effect that I can't play it because it's used.
I still buy games for the Gamecube, I still buy games for the PS2, and the Gamecube and PS2 don't give a crap if a Game is Used or not.
What if down the road when the Super Nextbox comes out and I want to play an Old Game that the Nextbox had? If I buy Used I can't play it! Why? It's used and the Nextbox can't play it, Also what if the Game ISN'T used, but then the Nextbox Decides that it is. Major Flaws can be found in this decision.
Unless the Big 3 start building up a Steam like service this isn't going to do well.
[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]"No-used games?" Yeah, no thanks, MS.CaseyWegner
it would be like pc gaming these days.
Thats actually a very good point.
Though i'm 100% against companies limiting the resale of purchased physical media, its been that way with PC gaming for many years now and it honestly hasnt ever affected me, mostly because of PC games being cheaper than console games and also because of fantastic services like Steam etc.
If MS do go ahead with something like this i'd sincerely hope they'll bring retail console game prices down to match PC games, otherwise i'll be PC only next gen.

Looks like nextbox will be great console for non gamers just like Wii U
Sony consoles and PC is all i need anyway, nothing has changed since 1996, M$ and Nintendo are still irrelevant
Zurrur
How have they both been irrelevent for the past two gens (three for Nintendo)?

There just isn't enough reasons to own other consoles
And Nintendo has been dead since Wii came out, no one wants to use stupid motion controls

They have not dominated the console market at all this gen. They came in dead last.
And some people mustwanna use motion controls because the Wii sold the most out of all the consoles.

Casual market is bigger than hardcore gaming market
Wii is just a toy for kids, Xbox360 is irrelevant since PS3 does everything it does better and actually has exclusive games
M$ and Nintendo are irrelevant deal with it

Microsoft and Nintendo are more relavent than Sony is right now outside of the losing money department.
[QUOTE="dontshackzmii"]DD is not a big deal at all. The games go on sale all the time. this past christmas Rockstar was selling their entire catalog for 50 bucks.ya companies keep trying to take away the rights from the consumer. I love having the freedom to trade games with friends or at stores. One thing i hate about pc is how little you can do with a game after your done with it. Thats one main reason why i hate DD. Unless the game is at a huge discount i rather buy a hard copy. But taking away freedom from us is not fair. Eb games and used game stores and rental services will be up in arms and might not even sell 720 stuff in protest.
rasengan2552
yes it is a big deal its awful and locked down. When i buy game i dont want to wait for a game to maybe go on sale. unless its like 5$ i dont want a digital copy.

Assuming any of it is true, I wouldn't be surprised if the other two in some sense followed ms with the used game thing. Blu ray though, is a likely possibility with how outdated the dvd disc is now.

How are they irrelevant when Wii sold more than PS3 and 360 combined and 360 surpassed PS3? Also look at Vita sales. Sony might go down in the console business if the PS4 is overpriced again.
xbox 720 allows used games but adds a $10 Used Game Pass in order to play it
Buy a used game, pay an extra $10 for online pass, pay another $10 for Used Game Pass, pay extra for XBL!. Lems will take anything from microsoft

why, there have only been a couple?
Why didn't this happen for the vita/sony doom threads?
I just locked 4 threads that were all on the first two pages. Also this is on a very specific topic of the next system, covering it's GPU, kinect features, blu ray, and possible used game block.
The other sony doom threads were less uniform, and much broader with no real direction in which to consolidate. Not to mention paced across days and weeks.

Pros and cons of nextbox if rumors hold true.
Pros
Ummmm.... Finally catches up to PS3 on disc drive?
Cons
Weak GPU.
No used games.
Kinect based and casual.
It looks like MS has a winner here.
This.I know it's just rumors but don't pull this off Microsoft.Just don't.[QUOTE="freedomfreak"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]I will not support a console that tries to counter used game sales.Blueresident87
It would almost be impossible, don't you think? How would they distinguish between a new and used game? Require a code like they do with PC games? I guess that would work, unfortunately...
it's quite easy, i bought a copy of oblivion and installed it to my HDD, the 360 stopped recognising the disc after a couple of days so i took it back, i popped the new disk in, pressed y, opted to play from the HDD but instead it started playing from the disc, i deleted the install,i re installed it from the new disc and it quite happily played from the HDD, each disk has a unique serial number imbedded in the disk somehow, my 360 knew that my new disk was not the disk i installed the game from originally and would nott allow it to be a 'key' to play the game from the HDD that i had installed from the other disk, the moment you go online the console coul upload the unique code to XBL and it could be downloaded to every console the next time they go online.[QUOTE="casharmy"]

not really satisfied with this. It's not like I am making any of these threads but just like the 720 there were TONS of vita threads yet this did not happen. I am really not seeing how you are justifying thisas a problem with only afew threads relating to 720 on different topics.
you are setting a bad president here by making this distinction. There have been a ton of thead on the wii u as well....crickets
