I have complete faith OPF1 multiplayer was real good. So I know OPF2 will be just insaneim still waiting on screens/footage of the multiplayer.

Arma 2 FTW! :D
Also, Hey pip_Dog hows the ban going for you? Anyone know of any other obvious returing posters? I don't tend to notice unless they are THIS obvious
Operation Flashpoint is a shadow of what it used to be.pyromaniac223Still, it looks pretty awesome. P.S: Wasn't the first one made by the makers of ARMA?
9 hours....? there is big and theres not needed, unless its a game like MAG with 256 players and the number of players meets the ap siz then itll be good....but only mag can do 256 players :(

the original OFP can do unlimited number of players. not even kidding. it was limited by bandwidth and processing power
This is the game that will separate the men from the boys. This game is going to be so freaking good it's not even funny. The map is so huge it take 9+ hours to cross on foot. And this game can be played in complete coop with an every changing AI and mission all in open real world war tactics. Not to mention it will have a full online modes with all the weapons and tanks choppers trucks jeeps tactics whatever mission modes the works. This is it this game is going to be the BOMB and now I'm so glad they delayed this game from last spring so they could spit polish it's army boots to a crystal shine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSd3HdM0drA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0ceUe5zsVc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5n-qWknZJECash_Man09I got MASSIVELY turned down by these after playing ARMA II How can this game even compete?

it cant and according to the devs its really not. their target is COD4. codemasters is really just riding off the OFP name. true fans of the original have been moved on to ARMAII since it came out. OFP2 is like ARAII for kids. hey at least GT might actually be able to play OFP2 and not sound ridiculous.
Doesn't look nearly as good as the original (nor as good as ARMA 2), however it does indeed look excellent and I will definitely buy it. :D

Well, ARMA II isn't on consoles so I can see why people are excited. I mean, who wouldn't be? It's probably the only game in the combat-sim category.

its about as much a combat sim as BFBC or COD4 are. asnd if im not mistaken wasnt ARMAII supposed to see a console release?

It got cancelled. And OPF 2 is MUCH more a combat sim than COD4, however I have not played BFBC.

Yes, but I can't imagine it working on consoles (not enough interest to maintain a large community). It isn't much of a combat sim, but I guess it'll satisfy most peoples needs :P.I got MASSIVELY turned down by these after playing ARMA II How can this game even compete?[QUOTE="Dead-Memories"][QUOTE="Cash_Man09"]This is the game that will separate the men from the boys. Pretty much sums it up FP2 is definitely dumbed down.Yes, but I can't imagine it working on consoles (not enough interest to maintain a large community). It isn't much of a combat sim, but I guess it'll satisfy most peoples needs :P.Wardemon50
oh theres no way in hell ARMAII would work on the consoles just watch the GT review. its pretty pathetic to watch the console gamers play it. its not meant for the 'casual' demographic. OFP2 isnt a military sim i dont care if the developers claim it to be that. it wont be. im sure console gamers will try and act like it is. its not. what it is is more 'hardcore' than COD4 or BFBC or any of those games. its basically either a waterdown OFP or a middle ground between hardcore milsims and more casual military FPSs

Bad Company and COD4 are arcade shooters, no doubts about that.ArmA II is a contemporary military simulator. Infantry combat is as realistic as a game gets, and combined arms is simulated in its place and operation on the battlefield (saying that tanks, cars, helicopters, jets are not simulated anywhere near as accurately as in a dedicated sim, of course).
In terms of simulating combat, its the best game about, as very good as far as combined arms are concerned. Of course its an aquired taste and rough around the edges.
Its the type of shooter that isn't going to appeal to the general COD4, BFBC audience.

the game would have to be dumbed down alot to work on consoles if it wasn't dumbed down it would be like entering a cheat code every time you wanted to do something :lol:While its not a true successor to OFP, of course, it looks to be good in its own right.skrat_01I agree. The game looks like it will be a blast, and it should be really refreshing to the army of Call of Duty 4 players.
Operation Flashpoint is a shadow of what it used to be.pyromaniac223And we know this how? You ever think they dumped the origonal developers becuase they saw better skills in the new developers and maybe saw that the origonal developers lost there touch and look they messed up Ama Did you ever think of that?

no because its not true in the least. ARMA and ARMAII are better military sims than OFP and especially OFP2 could hope to be.
This is the game that will separate the men from the boys. Cash_Man09Men? No. MW2 might be for boys, but the one for real men of ARMA2. OPF2 at most can be for teenagers :)

How so Armaii did not score well at all. And is buggy. So how is it better? It's amazing that a game like ArmA scored as well as it did. It's a ridiculously niche game, but extremely well done. The bugs are part of the experience, and they really don't break the game at all.[QUOTE="washd123"][QUOTE="Cash_Man09"] And we know this how? How so Arma2 did not score well at all. And is buggy. So how is it better?did not score well where? because it depends on the reviewer to be honest. most reviewers do their reviews from the perspective of a 'normal' gamer. ARMAII is a hardcore military sim its not designed to appeal to everyone really only the people who would like the genre in the first place. its not as buggy as some reviews would have you believe. and if im not mistaken its been patched. not to mention in any open world game to be bug free would be essentially a 'perfect' game. its almost an impossibility.
so yeah its a better military sim
I was disappointed it was delayed last year, but it appears the wait will be well worth itP1TECHYeah, looks fun, especially with the Co-Op.

Just because it is made by another developer doesn't mean it won't be the same. Wait for the demo and see whether or not it is real or not. People shouldn't bash a game they haven't played.

How so Arma2 did not score well at all. And is buggy. So how is it better?it scored 8.0 here, even with all the bugs. So it scored great. Also mind you...all the faults of ARMA2 were also in original OPF1 and in even bigger ammount. It's laughable to say the devs have lost their touch, they are the ones who are making the leading infantry training software used by armies all over the world, while all OPF2 devs have been making is arcade racers. OPF2 looks good and I anticipate it a lot, but it's hardly anything like original OPF and while it might (or not) a better game than ARMA2 (depends on what one personaly prefers) from all that was shown so far it's obvious it's not a real battlefield simulator the way ARMA 2 is.

well can we bash it based on the videos and what the developers said about the game so far? and really if it seems like were bashing it were not. no one here will say its going to be a bad game. its just not as good as the original or the spiritual successors
Just because it is made by another developer doesn't mean it won't be the same. Wait for the demo and see whether or not it is real or not. People shouldn't bash a game they haven't played.Actualy in majority of cases it does mean it won't be the same and from the movies we already know this will be the case here. Doesn't mean it won't be a great game, heck even a great tactical shooter, but it's definitly not OPF-like.XxChicagoTedXx
It will be the repeat of 2001 all over again, ARMA2 is like OPF1 was, OPF2 is what GhostRecon was in 2001.
I enjoyed both in 2001 and I plan to enjoy both OPF2 and ARMA2 this year. I prefer ARMA2 style, but Codemasters won't do better OPF styled game than Bohemia, so why even try? Better to take their own aproach instead of attempting to make another ARMA2, who needs two ARMA2s anyway?
