just ordered the parts for my new pc.

kinda weird....my current pc can barely run half life 1.....but soon I should have a computer that can run crysis on all high relatively well

I'll finally find out how much truth there is to the whole "360 is unnecessary if you've got a good pc" argument. Though, knowing my luck, the damn thing will never get up and running. i just know at least 30 things are going to go wrong when i try to build it....even though on paper it seems so easy

on a side note, its costing me $1172 (not including monitor, keyboard, and mouse cause i obviously have those things already. i bought new speakers though)

I've been lobbying to get one, but I need $400 first... sell the PS3 maybe. My parents will contribute $600 for a University PC

Nice, it was around 1k? I just did the math on the top of my head and it never went over 800. 180ish for the 8500, 230 for the gtx 260, 90 for the hd, 140 for the mobo, 60 for the ram, and 130 for the psu? Yup around 800 shipped. Im i missing something or did you buy it from somewhere else? :)

It's funny because the PC I currently have can barely run Half-Life on High, but I put in maybe $100 altogether, and it can possibly run Oblivion on high...

The wacky world of PC gaming...

w00t. So I'm not the only one that plays at 1024x768 after all! One thing you don't have to worry about too much is performance issues...

Yeah, good! Heat is one of the bigger areas where people make mistakes. Imagine playing a game like Crysis and then having your motherboard melt! Yikes! But at least you've got that under control.

You got your self a Nice PC, you best OC that 8500 though the thing is a beast.lol ;)

Though I liked My TT120 more then My ACF7 pro, But the TT you need to make sure you have a Big Tower because that thing a Monster size. But The ACF7 pro is still a damn good cooler.

You don't really need to at this point. My Pentium D 930 stock eats through Crysis, I doubt you'll need to overclokc it now, if at all.

Naw. I got that feeling with my first build (I think everyone does), but everything has always gone very smoothly for me.

The worst thing that can happen, really (assuming you researched your build sufficiently), is you wind up with some component arriving DOA. All you've got to do in those cases is get in contact with the retailer and set up an RMA, then wait a few days for the replacement.

Hell, the E8500 just drops in to the socket (no pins) ..so there really isn't much that you can mess up. Just watch out for those stupid stock Intel coolers. That snap-pin system can be a pain if you aren't installing it correctly (push them in 2 pins at a time; make sure they're diagonally across from each other)..and you definitely don't want to seat a heatsink incorrectly. If you're already using an aftermarket cooler: even better. They're usually harder to install than stock coolers (large mounting brackets and such are often involved, depending on what you bought), but it's always pretty clear how they should be mounted.

Everything else really is as easy as it looks on paper.

Oc'ing isn't really needed but You do see a Noticeable difference in most game's, But the 8500 has no problem kicking games around even at Stock Speeds.:P

Oc'ing depends on your Motherboard, A quick Google search can get you a bit of tuts on how to OC.

from what ive been told my arctic cooling freezer 7 pro 92mm is a pain in the ass to install, but totally worth it i just hope its not too difficult
