What will Sony come back from? A succesful year under Howard Stringer? SOny si in no trouble whatsoever, the Ps3 on the other hand is not doing well and may be "dead in the water" (although i highly doubt due to many big games still to be released and of course Sony's riches). The Playstation brand is so strong, or at leat once was, that Sony will continue it for at least another couple of generations, that is if they keep on track with their current trajectory.
A $200 price drop would be very very helpful, but i thinkt he losses would be too much, expect a major proce drop in fall 2008 if it does'nt do well during next year
Still hard to call at this point. The system has been out for close to a year now so it's easier to make some judgements about it, but I think it's going to take a while longer to make the final call.
I feel like there's reasons to own the system to be sure, (Blu Ray kicks ass, some games are cool), but there's too many reasons not to own it as well, (too expensive, PSN is just weak, lack of stellar games). Honestly though, even if the PS3 had just come out last week, I still wouldn't feel like it was ready for primetime. It just can't compete with the 360 & MS's Live service.
The real problem that Sony is having this gen is that MS dicatated the pace by bringing out the 360 really early & Sony decided that they had to get to market as quickly as possible with the PS3. If they would have waited to make the system more feature rich/user friendly & made the PSN service better, fans would have screamed their heads off over the delays, so they rushed the system out as quickly as they could & didn't give devs enough time with the new architecture & processor & didn't include all the features that gamers would want/expect nowadays.
If Sony wants to really step it up, they need to drop the price to at least $400 & really get on those games, (especially exclusives). Titles like MGS4 & KZ2 should obviously help, but the 360 craps out stellar titles every month so it's gonna take more than 2-3 great games after having been out for over a year to save Sony.
But no, I wouldn't say Sony is dead in the water at this point.
Shall the premium "Playstation 3" drops to $400--the "360" degree turn will be complete. Thus, the comeback will finally be at hand, and everything shall return backto normal with Sony on top of the gaming industry for the thrid time in a row--either that, or im delusional, and there's really no hope left.TecmoGirl
You said it. :P
People don't seem to realize that you don't have to have the most sales out of the big 3 to be succesful. You just need to make profits and cover your investments.
All 3 systems can be succesful.

Yes, but it still looks good ifor publicity if you trump your competition.
i dont think that sony has a chance anymore they made too many mistakes and no one is really releasing games on it right now 600 dollars is just rediculous for any game console.
