Okamiden should be a 3DS launch title. It won't sell well on the DSi.

I keep saying this, but Nintendo is making a mistake in its release window for Okamiden. It will likely be released just before or after the launch of the 3DS, and it's probably going to share the same fate as Okami for the PS2 and Wii -- a critically acclaimed, yet poor selling title. Too many people will be fixated on the 3DS and ignore it. If this was a 3DS launch title, it would probably sell in the millions. Imagine those painterly styled graphics with the 3DS's 3-d screen. It would look incredible. I just have a strong feeling this game is going to fail commercially as a DSi game, and that's a shame.

I'm kinda hopeful any game company putting out games for the DS this close to the release of the 3DS maybe they'll put on the box that it's "3DS compatible".

Guess I'm the only one on TC side. Launch games always sell better than normal, it would be a mighty good impression and franchise positive to launch such a high quality adventure when everyone else is getting their stuff together. I felt the same way about the first Okami though so its no surprise.

Not all DS gamers want to buy a 3DS immediately, so I wouldn't worry too much. Plus, there's no saying you can't buy it a month or two after you buy a 3DS, so relax. I don't know why everyone expects big sales in the first week.

a game that's supposed to be a painting (therefore, flat) in motion, in 3D? sorry, but logic says no :P

I really think Okamiden and Pokemon Black/White should've been on the 3DS.

Both would've been perfect for it and the graphical look would've been much better.

If the game isn't a strong seller, it could very well be the last we seen of the Okami series.

84,472 copies in its first week in Japan is considered good sales. Not that many games in Japan sell that many copies in total.thom_maytees
