It's WAY WAY too early to call a console that's been out a lil over a year as one of the best of all time. You can't really make claims like that til it nears the end of it's life cycle and you can judge it on how well it sustained itself.

Xbox 360 or Wii can't handle something as advanced as 'Little Big Planet'...and that game hasn't even touched on what the Ps3 can produce...the Ps3 is like a good vintage wine....it just gets better as it ages...the other consoles have reached their best before date!!!

Usually, hardware problems will only occur when you mistreat the console by not following all the instructions in the manual, or going against the warranty guidelines. I do not believe it to be a case of actual hardware faultiness like the PS2.
It will not be able to be considered one of the greatest console ever made for a while. It still needs many, many stupendous games to be able to take down the SNES and Genesis.
Hopefully, rumours of the price drop and cancellation of the gimped Core are true.

Suppose so. But I doubt many current 360 owners are going to get the new (rumoured) version
Its still horribly lacking in the exclusives department. I cant see myself spending $400 on the tiny list of exclusive titles that i cant already play on my PC.

Well it has to be said from a neutral's perspective, the Xbox 360 as things stand is the most impressive console of the current gen. It has the best library of games, is reasonably priced and offers imo the best online service.
As for the Xbox 360 breaking a lot, well I've had mine since launch and it hasn't broke once. If I recall correctly the PS2 broke a hell of a lot, but that was an amazing console.

This is like saying that "If the PS2 didn't have the DRE's would people be willing to admit that it's one of the best consoles ever?".
These hardware issues with the 360 (as was with the PS2), while more prevalent than should be (5% defective ratio is already higher than the 3% average), aren't prevalent in every console and shouldn't be seen this way.

He stated specifically that Gears of War is using rougly 20% of the 360's full capabilities. If he was pushing what the system can do there's still more pushing to be done. :)

Indeed....you speak the truth...playing the Xbox 360 for the next 5 years is gonna be like eating the same dinner every day of the week....tiresome, ultimately boring - even with the addition of an extra herb or spice here and there.....the Ps3 will give you a whole new dinner menu time after time!!!

give it time old bean....before you know it you won't be able to taste everything on the menu let alone eat it!......just as with the PS1 and PS2...it's a fact
It's not secret, I hate almost everything this industry has become.
But I admit, it's much harder to criticize the 360. As of right now, it's the best combination of hardware performance and price. Many of the hardware problems people experience are a result of neglect or simple ignorance. You must let any powerful hardware breath properly, cool down, and rest after GPU intensive applications.Â

It hasn't been out for nearly long enough to be deemed the "best console of all time," I judge a console's worth by the amount of great games on it. The 360 is off to an excellent start with the likes of games like Gears, but it has a ways to go.
I consider the SNES and the PS2 as the two greatest consoles of all time, but this was only after they had been out for several years and had extensive libraries.
Who knows, the 360 might get there one day.... but it'll take more great games.
