Old Franchise Resurrection

What old franchise would you resurrect, and what would be the best console for it to be resurrected on?



Me, I liked that game Demon Crest that Capcom made; it was going places. I mean it wasn't perfect, but it was just as much fun as any Megaman game I thought.

Anyway, I think they should make a new one and bring it to some downloading service, preferably the PS3 and 360 so it can be in HD. Or if they got really ambitious, I wonder if it would make a decent full-blown game. I doubt it though, it'd probably have to stay 2D in order to be worthwhile, and the 2D genre seems to have been pushed to the DLed Games.

A fully realized System Shock 2 sequel using the Source Engine on PC and scaled down for the Wii (main series) with a slightly more casual Bioshock-esk version for the Xbox360, and PS3.

A main series Planescape Torment or Baldurs Gate sequel using the infinity engine on the DS and PC.

A new Dizzy adventure for the Wii.

Turrican in the Metroid Prime 3 engine.

I just love the theme and craziness of it... and having a yo-yo as a weapon... (sorry Captain Rainbow... but the protagonist of Star Tropics was the original yo-yo weilder)

How could I forget Startropics.

That was one of the best NES games out there. In fact, I think it's one of the few that have stood the test of time for me.

You seem to be a master of obscureness though, I've only heard of Dizzy because of Yahtzee.

I also need to play through the Baldur's gate games. I really hated its combat system though - not to mention my dislike for Tabletop rules in a computer game.

Here's an excellent written review of System Shock 2. If you buy it I recommend you use Rebirth which is a graphical mod. With the mod the graphics are quite good as you can see from this comparison.

I got to play Dizzy because my first computer was an old Spectrum. I wouldn't recommend it nowadays though, although I would recommend Zack & Wiki for a similar kind of item puzzle gameplay.

I don't really favour the resurrection of old franchises. Most of the times the original concepts that made the games great to begin with, aren't or can't be brought back anymore, and only the characters and/or theme are the things that come back.

I would prefer that the people that made such franchises to create a new one.

It is still one of the best games and way before it time. The whole game was music based. You had to find notes and play songs. There a number of games just starting to come out now like that. At it time there was none other. I think a remake would be huge for the DS, PC or Wii.

Tomba from the Playstation. This was a great platformer game and it was so much fun. Unfortunately the company that made it went out of business after the sequel.

Road Rash. What the heck is wrong with the people who make this game. An updated Road Rash would be so freaking sweet.

Driver. I know I know there is Driv3r and Driver 4 but those are crappy GTA clones. Take Driver back to it's roots and make the game full of DRIVING missions. Have it like Driver 2 where you can get out of your car to jack other ones or to push a button to open a garage but thats it.

Good choices. According to pcgamer Baldur's Gate 3 is being worked on, not bioware, not isometric apparently, probably **** it up.

A Planescape Torment sequel musn't necessarily follow on from the original story. A brand new high calibur campaign set in the Planescape campaign setting that focuses on the philisophical and the metaphysical would be excellent.

Crysis is not some one-size-fits-all graphics style. You can't just apply it to any game. That would totally suck.
