Heavy Rain is a very anticipated games and has been since it was shown for the first time during E3-200somethingsomething.

AND!

Ever since the first gameplay video was shown at Leipzig 2008, people have been rambling about how awesome the graphical aspect of this game is, and how interesting it looks. A lot of people even said it was prettier than Crysis. I will now prove that this is not the case.

No! It is not looking better than Crysis, and it is not looking like a game that is going to be the console graphics king. Only PlayStation 3 fanboys said that to make them feel better.

I agree, that tech demo is very blah compared to the new Heavy Rain videos. the 2 other pictures are funny though.angry_fork

The old tech demo used the entire resources of the PS3 for one scene, the most recent videos don't have the same expressive animation or physics detail. If you honestly think the most recent videos >the old tech demo then you need to go watch it again.

Honestly people are setting themselves up to get knocked down, haven't there been enough examples in the past to not judge a game by the marketing media? It's not enough to get a decent looking game, you have to hype it to high heaven; so if something does go wrong it's epic.

It doesn't look crap, compared to crysis it does but that would mean every game looks crap but crysis and crysis warhead.

Not saying that it'll be a great game though. Being forced to play the whole game like an interactive novel.

I'm not going to get into the whole Crysis>Heavy Rain argument because that has been done to death.

However I have a question, has there been one HR scene shown to the public were the player is in control? I'm not talking about the cut scenes were you decide character actions with button presses, I mean walk around with the controller game play.

Difference is we actually have the game, we can go play it and take a screenshot of any location you want. Heavy Rain is unreleased, therefore its expectations are up in the air and determined by hype. No one in here can go take control of the game and prove what is is claiming to have, in Crysis we can.

Crysis is no way near photorealistic. The game looks superb an a picture but when you play the game the facade breaks. It's the best looking game yet and will probably stay that way for a long time but it's no way near photorealistic.

I'm not going to get into the whole Crysis>Heavy Rain argument because that has been done to death.

The graphics look better in the newer videos imo. The facial expressions look better in the older video, however we didn't see many facial expressions in the new video, like the eyebrows moving around things like that, so i'll save my judgement. The old video also had a crapload of jaggies. I'm not hyping the LOOK of the game to high heaven, i'm excited for it because of the story and gameplay that Quantic Dream is known for. As fasr as graphics are concerned I know i'm gonna get a great looking game, I don't care if it looks better then Mass Effect or MGS4 or whatever, I know it's gonna look great but I don't care if it's not as good as other games graphically.angry_fork

It's good that the graphics are not your main selling point for the game, but being SW many people will use the graphics in arguments; as they have already done. Expect the graphics to become a major factor in related threads; especially when the inevitable "can only be done on PS3" arguments start to rise up.

The scenes where she's walking down the hallway, and up the stairs, the refrigerator and open the door are gameplay with the controller. angry_fork

Thanks, there has been way too much pre determined animation footage; I'm gathering little details here and there to determine how the game works. Shame the actual game play is so brief, guess I'll have to wait for more footage to see the real time animation system working.

Though like MGS4 loading screens; some things will just remain unknown until release.

I don't know from experience what throwing a turtle into a pile of exploding barrells and then launching a nuke at it genuinely looks like, but i sure hope it looks half as realistic as crysis makes it look.
