today, my parents came over to check out my new place.. so we're just making small talk while i'm rockin' out to Guitar Hero III and they really fell in love with the game..

they wanted to know how they could get it.. initially i wanted to tell them to get a PS2 for cheap, but then i just told them to get a Wii.. i figured they could buy the Wii and Guitar Hero III for a resonable price (since they are non-gamers) and then they could also enjoy Wii-Sports and Wii-Fit aswell..

afterwards i couldnt believe how effective the Nintendo strategy is.. even as a "sony fanboy", i have to give props where props are due.. -good job...

... yeah, Nintendo's whole non-gamer thing is working out pretty well.

And sure, it may result in a bunch more casuals, but that's that many more people who aren't biased against video games.

I know, my parents asked me to bring over my Wii for a football party they had a while ago for their friends to try out.

They've told me that atleast 3 of the people that attended the party bought a Wii shortly after.

Nintendo was smart with marketing and development of the wii. Its really amazing that they reached down that deep into the casual market with the wii :D

The only problem I have with this is that for every new casual gamer buying the Wii, a dev is less and less likely to make hardcore games for it. My Wii will be completely dormant after my Super Smash Bros. induced euphoria has died down around June...

More casuals means more hardcore gamers too, they just take time to ''evolve''.

Nah I disagree, as long as there is a market for hardcore game - and there most definitely is - then developers will continue to make hardcore games for the system. Supply and Demand.

right they cut down playstation's 11 year reign as #1 which is hard to do. Wii maybe now, but it won't be as popular in the future since its long term plan is decent, not great. If you compare the list of future games for each console you will see that Wii is tied with 360.

I am a huge Wii nut, and based on trailers of NMH, I will be staying far away from it. The voice-acting and story is ridiculous and embarrassing at the same time (The english dubs sound worse than Naruto). The gameplay, while mature and a gore-fest, looks clunky and the graphics look quite fugly (even if it is cell-shaded). Sorry, but NMH is one of those Wii games I'm not getting.

And this is all IMO, so if you decide to flame me, Sheep, It'll only make you look bad. :)

Yeah definetly, the fact that the Wii expands out to non-gamers is a huge part of its success.
