THE media card readers!! I recently just sold my 20 GB PS3 on ebay so I could purchase the 60 GB, well I bought my 60 GB yesterday and I dont regret my decision one bit!!! I must say that the most underrated feature of the PS3 is the Camera media card readers!! Its so nice to just copy my digital pictures straight from my media card to my ps3 with no hassle whatsoever and whenever I have company over and I want to show them some new pics, I no longer have to worry about bringing them all into my computer room or passing around my digital camera to show off the pics, all i need to do is start up my PS3 and everyone can enjoy my pictures on my 50 inch TV, and I LOVE the slideshow feature as well, very creative how it looks like a real photo album and it tells the exact time and date each picture was taken!

This is one feature of the PS3 that is under rated that noone seems to care about but its a really great feature that really adds to the multimedia experience the PS3 offers. Honestly I really think if sony did a better job of explaining each of the PS3 features in detail, it would sell more. Because as it stands now people just see $600.00 and all they see is another gaming console but if they just knew all the other features it has and actually knew in detail, it would sell a lot more!

It's a nice feature I suppose. I think it's overlooked because you can do it on the PC too.

I'm impressed that Sony decided to include the other formats instead of just Memory Stick. Sony can be pretty proprietary at times so it really threw me off that they did that.

Well, some people don't have their computer and TV in the same room... and don't have laptops (both of which often cost more than $600)

This is going to come across as me being mean, but I have to say it.

Keeping your personal media on your GAMING CONSOLE is the WORST idea anyone has ever come up with ever.

Ever.

Keep it on your computer, and wirelessly stream it to your console, and thusly, your entertianment center. That's what any self-respecting 360 owner does. I don't know if you can do this (with pictures, movies, and music) on a PS3.

If you can't, bummer. If you can- shame on you for uploading photos on your GAMING CONSOLE!

Most people do.  Sure there are some, but there are some people with a PS3 and no camera either...

And? I can still put photo's on my TV through my 360 or Wii. Not that I would want to though.

The Wii has an SD Card slot, so it can do it too.

Most all decent digicams come with a cable that allows it to hook up to yur TV or receiver anyway. Thats the best way to do it. Putting personal media on a game console is a stupid idea.

Does the media you play (pictures and music) have to be on the PS3 hard drive or not?

If the media has to be on the PS3 to be played, then that feature is pure garbage. Streaming it is the only realistic option. Keeping media on your GAMING CONSOLE is like choking it.

Ever go into walgreens and just stick your media card in one of the little kiosks and view pictures? Works the same way, pop in your media card and bam, you can store which pictures you want by choice

Well I guess if you have been living in the stone age thats cool, I have been plugging in my Digital camera directly into my TV for years. Now I just stream my Stuff its alot better than SD cards etc. I hate walking to a console to plug stuff in, games are the exception since you put one in ands you play for hours. I have like 30-40 folders of random pictures that I put on, when I have friends over. The reason I like streaming is the feature o you can use the remote and be able to access any picture you have on you PC which in my case thats about 35 000 to 40 000 last I checked so SD cards wont work for me, I used my ipod for a while but it was way to small for my music and pictures.......I really need a TB HDD it would make life so much easier, maybe then I could start up movie collecting again as the 200G to 300G of movies on my HDD take up most of my 500G HDD...actually I need 2TB or rehabilitation for space dumping stuff on my PC.

Its almost as if Windows Media Connect doesn't let me do that with my 360 and laptop, much less the nice little cables that came free with my camera that plug into my TV. Or my ipod dock, or my laptop...

Wow, card readers on the PS3.

You see, this is how 360 owners do it.

First you download your pictures onto your computer, like all people do with digital photo's, and put it in your shared folder(s).

Then you turn on the 360, hit "Media Center" and load up some music, hit the folder of the pictures you want to show in HD with moving/altering slide show.  When your done showing your pictures, why not show your company "Christmas" or "Vacation" pictures in other folders.  When your done that, why not show video's of your Birthday Party .  All of this without getting up once.

And all of this runs through a 100mb ethernet network, unlike the slow read times of card readers.  You see, Media Center and the 360 gives you all your media needs (Video, Pictures and Music) all without getting off you butt once.  All 1tb of HD space is at my command with the 360.  Unlike the PS3, where you have to swap cards or downloading more files from your computer onto a flash card and then again plug it into you PS3.  It's soooo 1990's.

My TV(well my dads now since I gave it to him when I moved out, and upgraded to a 50" Samsung 1080P DLP.) had a memory card slot right on the TV, so you could view your pictures without attaching anything. Just plug the card right into it, and look at them.

most under reated feature is that its region free. the uk no longer has to wait months for games to hit europe because of all the different languages they need. we can now just buy american. i got oblivion weeks before it was out and when ff13 and mgs4 hit amaerica i imagin 20% ok uk owners importing it.
