I think Haze is, unfortunately, that sort of one-trick pony FPS that fails to explore its Big New Idea to a level that makes it rise from the pack. But then again, as our own Michael McWhertor was quick to point out:

I see. Well it's partially the developers fault for releasing it in Halo season. At that point you're asking for endless Halo vs Haze topics. I mean their names are almost the same for God's sake.

You're right, the market is flooded with the genre, but PS3 owners need whatever they can get. The gameplay looks only decent imo, but 4 player co-op sounds very fun and I have no Halo 3 to look forward to.

I feel sorry for Haze coming out around the time all these other AAAshooters, I hope it can live up to the hype.

there is no way the 360 will have the "superior" version when ps3 is the lead platform and it is being ported to 360.

Are we talking the Multiplayer Beta Graphics of Halo 3 here? Coming from a person who was horribly unimpressed with the Beta graphics, to the point of bashing Halo fan boys, I am seriously impressed with Halo 3's Campaign graphics.

From the Jungle video it was hard to tell, but the Car scene definitely looked worse than Halo 3's campaign.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 360 version is a port of the latest revision of the arcade code and not the PS3 version of the game.

I can't think of any reason to bash this game. Top noth graphics, great (some even call it innovative) gameplay, very compeling story, 4 player online/offline seamless drop in/out co-op, great multiplayer, made by Free Radical... People might call it generic, but you know what? That's not necessarily bad. Halo is considered generic, but it also one of the best FPS franchises ever. Gears of War was considered generic, and so far is the best game of this gaming generation.

I think this game has a great concept, and if the combat is decent then I will definitely be picking this up. I think its about time shooters ventured out of the ultra-safe realm of aliens vs. humans or allies vs. axis.Teufelhuhn

Far Cry hardly had a story you would take seriously, and if you did it was ex-special forces guy vs. crazy mad scientist. Not exactly challenging material. And Battlefield 2 doesn't even have a story...

See, I don't really see anything innovative in this. The car drive made me feel like it was a Halo clone, and when it was in the Jungle it felt like Far Cry. The story seems to be that you're a soldier for a company, but of course some plot twist will occure that makes you question the meaning of being a soldier, to which you rebel and take down the very corperation you initially faught against. I could be completely wrong, though,

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game sounds bad. I'm just saying it feels like a game that's trying to be a AAA title by mimicing what others have done; trying to sew together the pieces of other AAA successes. Now I'm not saying this is bad, but it seems to have the result that you see in the videos: Chaos. In the jungle scene there was so much blur, explosions, and people running around through the foliage that you could hardly tell who to shoot at. The car ride had random explosions out of nowhere that killed the other 3 guys in the car, and almost killed the main guy. That's why people are unimpressed.

Far Cry hardly had a story you would take seriously, and if you did it was ex-special forces guy vs. crazy mad scientist. Hardly challenging territory. And Battlefield 2 doesn't even have a story...

Well, when you said realm, I thought you meant setting. Not a fully fleshed out story. How about Freedom Fighters?

I agree that the story is intriguing and has potential, buy I disagree that the gameplay is innovative, how? graphics: technichally I guess they're solid, but maybe just my sense of aesthetics, but seems very bland and not 'easy on the eye'. Rilmatz

This game looks WAY better than anything on the 360. I can't wait to pick it up.
