OMG, the firmware update might have sold me on PS3...

  As much as I've bashed it, I will admit upscaling some of the PS1 games would be sweet. Mainly because a lot of them I can get for cheap...

Got a used one, complete with manual and non-greatest hits packaging for $10 at EB (Canada) just a few weeks ago.

Is paying $600 to upscale PS1 games really worth it? I realize the PS3 does other things, but why would upscaling PS1 games sell you on the console? I mean if you were to go back and play PS1 games in the first place the visuals probably aren't going to be your main concern.

I have an extensive collection of classic systems and games. I still like the feel of the Intellivision controller whaen playing TRON Deadly Discs.

I don't know I don't buy a console for it's features, but rather for the games I play on it, it's cheaper to get a ps1 than a ps3, is upscaling worth that much to you?2FacedJanus

 The ability to play 3 gens worth of games that look better. I'd say yes....

That is a great deal in the states they have taken out all PS1 games and N64 games. So you have to go to ebay where the cheapest one is $40+ when sold.

The games aren't going to all of a sudden look amazing. The resolution will make them better for sure but itas not going to be drastic.

That game rocks. The art in that game is sick. Very cool Boss Battles and secrets as well. I wish I could play it upscaled but I only have a PS2.

I myself would rather play PS games on a PS. Upscaling means nothing when the game is not an HD game to begin with. It is still the same game in a higher resolution, it changes nothing. For me to be sold on a gaming console, I need to want to play the games that are made for that console.foxhound_fox

I will consider getting a PS3 when Final Fantasy XIII comes out - that's about it. I mean, it's a system I *want* to *want* y'know?

I do have a question - the PS3 firmware update is supposed to support upscaling to 1080p - does this mean it will offer 720p upscaling? I'm going to assume it will support 1080i upscaling... but 720p would be nice as well.

You suck I got a used one that was greatest hits for 25$ for Eb games.
