Well Im sure a lot of people planning on buying Halo 3 already own a 360 considering the rabid Halo fans probably bought the 360 when it launched, but yeah it is still going to give the 360 a boost in sales.
As far as re taking the lead thats hard to say cause its in the lead already and we really don't know if the Wii will take the lead as fast as most might presume it to.
IDK, it will be interesting to see. This is kind of a broken recored thread I mean hasn't this topic been beaten to death yet.
 Halo 3 will not sell that many units, especially when Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy and Metroid start getting released in the fall, those games are hardcore titles with massive appeal. Considering the fact that 360 console sales have pretty much halted, its safe to say that Halo 3 will not sell more consoles since all the Halo fans have already bought their 360's and no one else wants one.DSgamer64Have you looked at the best seeling game lists for the Wii? I don't think the vast majority of its patrons even know what Metroid and Mario are anymore.

Halo is a proven seller but yes.. Halo won't change the 360's position in Japan I imagine.

Considering the fact that the Wii has a wider target audience now, its pretty easy to tell that games like Mario and Metroid have a much easier chance at outselling anything the 360 gets. And if Halo 3 flops I am going to laugh until I cry.

It will be a battle of the casuals, most casuals want GTA IV and Halo 3 and with a price drop, the 360 could sell very well this Christmas, and much further in the future, i could see a $250 360 outselling a $150 wii, especially with Gears of War 2 etc.TEH_rankiesadly it wont happen cus wii has more apeal. also ms wont lower price cus there still in the red with 360 and will soon start making money. if they lower price they just flushed that down the drain.

The same thing was said with the psp that it would outsell the ds once GTA came out and look now the DS is selling it 5:1. The Wii has sold 7 million in less than a year and the 360 is only at 11 million after nearly 2 years.

Both will be available for the PC. No need to own a Batsu Baku 360.

It was just an example probably a bad one at that. Still the facts remain the same if the Wii is selling at this rate without killer apps why would the 360 suddenly overtake it with the release of Halo?

Well using the same logic that sheep are using. everyone who loved GC is buying a wii early b/c of its cheap price. and don't have to wait for a price drop to afford it.

They should be consoles for now on and placed in the same comparison. Ouch lets compare crysis to nintendogs. OUCH!!!!
you are so right, how do you do it!

I don't think Halo 3 alone will sell that many consoles, because most of the halo people probably bought a 360 when the crackdown/halo beta was announces or even before. I think the 360 is gonna continue to sell well because of the growing FANbase and the fact that it's made in AMERICA, and if you don't like it then you can just GIT OUT!NaiKoN9293its made by an american company but built in china so i gues its like an american dude that has a kid with a chinese girl

Ok I dont deny that he release of Halo 3 will spike sales. I mean after the I saw the Beta Im going to buy a 360 just for it but the release of the game will not cause 360 sales to overtake the Wii. The Wii has sold near to the 360s sales in under a year and if it keeps at this pace it will outsell it by December as well as the realase of its own killer apps the rate will increase.
Halo 3 is a brilliant game no one denies that and will sell millions to the hardcore crowd but it wont sell enough 360s to put a gap between itself and the Wii. Eventually the Wii at this rate will overtake.

All the big franchise games Nintendo has released so far have quickly become million sellers (similar to what goes on with the DS, which appeals to the same demographic). You have nothing but speculation to claim that it would be otherwise for SMG, SSBB, and MP3.

This is supported by sales charts of Wii games. I didn't say, "They don't know about Nintendo Titles". I said, "Can you prove they do"?TNT_Slug
Have you looked at the best seeling game lists for the Wii? I don't think the vast majority of its patrons even know what Metroid and Mario are anymore.VandalvideoAnd now you're backpedaling because you acknowledge it was a ludicrous thing to say. Looks very plain and simple to me. It was a hypothetical proposition. It wasn't intended as a factual statement. 0_o

Considering the fact that 360 console sales have pretty much halted, its safe to say that Halo 3 will not sell more consoles since all the Halo fans have already bought their 360's and no one else wants one.Vandalvideo
Mario Party 8 sold 500,000 in 3 weeks, in the US.
Which is........a what? Minigame compilation. It's still Mario :|
[QUOTE="kingsy_the_one"][QUOTE="Blayrre_D"][QUOTE="smarties00"][QUOTE="DoctorBunny"][QUOTE="smarties00"][QUOTE="TEH_rankie"]It will be a battle of the casuals, most casuals want GTA IV and Halo 3 and with a price drop, the 360 could sell very well this Christmas, and much further in the future, i could see a $250 360 outselling a $150 wii, especially with Gears of War 2 etc.OhSnapitz
The same thing was said with the psp that it would outsell the ds once GTA came out and look now the DS is selling it 5:1. The Wii has sold 7 million in less than a year and the 360 is only at 11 million after nearly 2 years.
Handheld = console now?
keep reaching!
It was just an example probably a bad one at that. Still the facts remain the same if the Wii is selling at this rate without killer apps why would the 360 suddenly overtake it with the release of Halo?
Anyone who would want a 360 for Halo already owns a 360.
That's retarded.. That's like saying Anyone who wants MGS4 already bought a PS3 Considering the series never eclipsed a couple million(for each individual game).. Same goes for the wii and SSBM and Metroid *Hell did the second prime even clear a million?*
