you can not do a private match in battlefield. this is a major problem. you can not go one one one with a friends, and if you could the maps are so big you will never find him. Or play with a handful of friends; or even play alone just to get to know the map.

The only downfall of this argument is that Battlefield is a team game - Call of Duty is not.

You can create a dedicated server to play just with your friend... and you dont get to play the whole map dude...in modes like deathmatch, you just play in 1 small area, not bigger than a cod map

Why would you want to play BF, or even CoD, one on one in the first place? That's what games like Halo are for dude.

yes you can boot up BFBC2 on PS3 or 360 and its an option in the multiplayer menu. Thanks for playing.

Tbh Rush or Squad DM would work with small player counts aswell....

BF2 Modern combat servers go down September the 1st and BF1942 never came out on live or PSN, if your talking 1943 i skipped that as i still would rather play 1942.

You can make private servers on BF that require a password and then give the password to the people you want to play with

the percentage of people that play competatively is much lower though tbh.

GB was big a few years back here but now its pretty much a dead thing.

No the only thing that COD really has over Battlefield is that when you play it on consoles you aren't really missing out on anything.. Not sure if that is even a positive though.

You mean here on GS or in general? The only reason I can still bear to put a COD disk in is to GB and its very active

I dont care about that. For me they are just 2 totally different games. When I want a mindless run n gun fest with shotties and a whole lot of funny gadgets and crap, I play COD. When I want a more open war experience, I play BF. I say BF and not BC because Bad Company in general is not the same as true Battlefield...especially BC2. It saddens me to hear that BF3 is taking a lot of the BC2 features and not staying a true sequel to BF2.

3D spotting...something that is totally unnecessary and never in the PC BF games. Just learn to use your radar. In the alpha, people would just wait for the 3D diamond and just light that whole area up. This is something that should have been left in BC2. No commander or custom squads...both features that helped make you feel more engrossed in the battle vs just some random squads thrown together in COD fashion. BC never had the squad or team cohesion that BF2 or BF2142 had. It makes a big difference. Rush mode maps...just stick to making awesome conquest maps. Make smaller version of the maps available as they did in BF2 if people want. If they want infantry only, allow that setting on game creation just like on BF2. Rush mode is BC all the way and should stay there.

I thought you were going to say it's pick up and play, it's not too hard to understand for old timers and kids and has mass appeal.

That's what I would've said.

Only in BF2142. BF2 has 2D spotting. I'n 2142 it wasn't a problem because you couldn't shoot and blast through almost everything...

Why would you ever want to go one on one with a friend in Battlefield? The maps are massive.

CoD's biggest strong point is its tightness and responsiveness of controls, and it's pretty much one of the few multiplatform games that actually handles well on consoles, whereas you'll see in the Frostbite engine for example, the controls are extremely sluggish and the game simply isn't worth playing at all on consoles, but on PC the weak controls can be compensated for with a keyboard + mouse, albeit it is still noticable for any serious, and especially, competetive gamer. MW3 will have larger maps this time around since IW 5.0 can handle(inb4 BF fanboy snark) it while BF players have enjoyed this from the early days.

While BF3's engine may be inherently incapable of allowing the smoothness of controls/handling MW3 has, it offers vehicles, massive maps, larger scale battles, and of course destructibility, although it's unsure to what extent the destructibility is a necessary feature, although IW 5.0 supposedly introduces a smaller scale version of Frostbite style destructibility but I suppose we'll see all that on Sep 3rd in the CoD XP videos, but it can be said BF3 is certainly creeping up on MW3 in terms of marketshare and the fact it is being downloaded most on digital distribution platforms means much more profit per sale going to the developers than if we bought physical copies. It would be nice if MW3 at least added some small extras for PC gamers, I mean sure their primary platform is X360 where they will sell at least 75% more than they did previously according to consistent trends in the CoD series(which is approx 13M) so we can expect at least 23 million sales on X360 alone, but that will be for physical copies.

Anyway, MW3's IW 5.0 sounds like it could be packing some major heat, especially if the rumors regarding destructibility are true. All I can say is, BF3 alpha was awesome, and I can't wait to play a new BF3 build during beta since the alpha version is supposedly really old and was only for server stress testing purposes. Most people that play CoD games on mid-level PCs get like 120-200+ FPS, all I'm asking for is some slightly better visuals on the PC version, I want max settings to drop me to 40-50 FPS.

Who the hell plays COD/Battlefield 1 on 1? 1v1 is for arena style games. CoD 1v1s are a joke because it becomes a campfest.

I could care less about that. BF is all about team thing and plus one on one would be boring anyways.
