the best gen ever i dare to say, and still i cant wait for fable 2, the new zelda, too human, gears 2, the new wario.

Well i'd say it is at this point of the year, but its all thanks to how great 2007 was that all these games got pushed to 2008.

This is the first gen where online gaming across all platforms is available in one form or another.It's also the first time that if you own all 3 console platforms and a PC, you basically have access to the entire catalog of videogames across EVERY PLATFORM EVER ACROSS EVERY SINGLE GENERATION.

Yeah, that's true, people forget that in the genesis/snes/n64/saturn/dreamcast days, you didn't have backwards compatibility, it's a huge thing now, but, back then, when you upgraded from your nes to your snes, the snes didn't play those nes titles, you have to wait for a compilation to come out or something. This is a ground breaking gen because, as you've said, online is standard, motion controls are becoming standard, some insane games have come and are coming, and virtual console/online b/c has added a real deep layer of content.

I think this year should be considered the best year for videogaming ever, with titles like:

Smash Bros Brawl, Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 and a lot of bright games to come up soon enough, i love this gen.

NInja Gaiden on 360

MGS4 on ps3

Mario Kart Wii on the Wii

Plus GTA as a multiplat

(also have FOrza 2 from last year which is the best racer ever imo)

Definatly an awesome year.... with more games to come (the new stalker on pc looks amazing)

Not really. But my opinion may change when all the interesting games are released in fall.

This has been, to me, the best generation for gaming ever, and I have been gaming a long time.

This year is up there, but I am still waiting on a few titles to see how they pan out before I say its the best year yet, IMO.

so far its not the best year for gamers, best year of gaming doesnt depend on the score games get, especially when the companys pays for reviewsor makes up some condition for reviewers which forces reviewers to give the games high score, look at GTA, that game is a 7.5 max and MGS4 deffo looks fishy as well but ill judge that once I play the game, 07 was the best thomingo123

We will have to wait and see. It has a ways to go before it can beat 1998, but it could.

There are already 2 other games I see that COULD potentially be AAAA games this year.

Spore and Starcraft 2. Spore has the potential to be AAAA if it does everything that it can do. If it is more than just a creature creator and actually a fantastic game as well, that is AAAA potential. And Starcraft 2 could because it will be a perfect refinement of the RTS genre. Add lots of new, polish the old, attain perfect balance and have a fairly impressive technical game(which it is. Tons of units on screen, all of them with an extremely clean and attractive pop visually. and then the physics with Havok on everything.).

As for AAA games there are tons of games that have the potential to be AAA.

Yep, this year looks awesome. I for one, can't wait for Spore and Guitar Hero IV.

You have:

The PC, PS3, 360, Wii, DS, PSP, AND the ablility to download content to all of them. Then there is cell phone gaming and the Iphone/Ipod.

There has never been this much content available to consumers at one time, ever.

We need a good racer, and more importantly a good rpg. Hopefully Socom, RFom2, and Gears 2 can make up the online portion. This very well may be the best year of gaming.dru26

You do have a racer, Grid. And soon rpgs will not be a problem , unless you don't like the 360.

I still think of 2003-2004 as the best year in gaming, with 2007 coming up a close second. I mean, 2007 just left my wallet broken and bleeding on the street, it was an embarrassment of riches. This year, we've only had two truly great games so far. We have to wait for E3 to see whether this year will eclipse last year.UnnDunn

using scores to judge which games are truely great isnt the best way, for instance one of the most highly regarded RPG series is Fallout which is a AA series, and I think any fair comparison between those and PDZ or Tony Haawk 3 as for which are truely great would be a little silly.

1998 still stands ahead of all other years imo but it seems we are getting more consistant with the quantity of qaulity releases year to year.

So far 2008 is shaping up well and we still have 6 months to go and its in the last few months of the year that the majority of games release.

Also , this is the year of the fighting games. Blue blaze, ssbb, Soul Calibur 4, 2 versions of street fighter, King of fighters, dbz :burst limit,and Battle Fantasia.

Then theirs Alone in the dark

Also, Battlefield: Bad Company(play the demo and you'll understand).

Now most of these will be out this summer as in end of June to end of august. Usually all of this will be out in fall and fall is even better. 5 RPG WILL BE RELEASED IN A ROW, Little big planet, Gears 2, Resistance 2 , Left 4 Dead, Lego batman, and Dead Space.

This year is leaps a bounds over last year. Last year had a 3 month gap with out games and didn't have any good games till the end of August. This year break was was only in January, February on was nothing but games.

It's shaping up to be amazing. It's funny,I was dissapointed by GTA4,and surpirsed by MGS4. This game is godlike. Spore looks incredible,and if Strarcfaft 2 and Dawn of War 2 release aswell,should be pretty great.stephant_6
