Here's a great new article talking about the video side of the PSP, one that hasn't been so hot.

The reason it did not deliver as well as the DS? It tried to be more than just a gaming handheld.

The PSP failed because it tried to be a pocket home console, not a portable game system. Not just that but the PSP's multimedia features killed it. Homebrew/emulators were so rampant that software sales suffered as a result.

It was the fad that made it flop.

It failed because it's a PS2 wanna be. It basically offers the same thing you can get on the PS2, but not as good.

Don't go so far as to say that it flopped.

Remember, you're comparing a first gen Sony product to a 7th gen Nintendo handheld.

The main reason I didn't buy a PSP is because of the dead/stuck pixel issue. Unless you have 5 or more dead/stuck pixels in the SAME QUADRANT, Sony tells you to take a hike. Nintendo replaces your DS even if there is just one.

I have three, and I never notice them. It's not a big deal to be honest.

Well, you know you have 3, so you noticed them at one point. And for $250 (at the time), the thing better be perfect. Oh, lest I forget the 'wonderful' d-pad can be improved by taping a quarter to it.
