Online Gaming is rubbish

I just got xbox live a few days ago and so far all i have recieved is abuse from people. And people shouting at each other. what the heck is wrong with everyone. I just want to play some gears of war and relax. but I have to turn the sound down on the TV just so my blood pressure doesnt rise from these idiots. And seriously are there only three types of voice on Xbox live

 1) American guy with a southern twang shouting "yeah dude....F yeah!!"

2) English cockney with an insanely annoying voice "awight mate shut the F up"

3) High pitched little kid " ***** you **** my *** purple **** f f f f f"

Yes there is a way to mute specific players.  Hit the guide button, go to Players, select the obnoxious player, select mute.

Also, it depends on which game you're playing on XBL.  I've had pretty good luck with playing PGR3 and GRAW without getting too many morons playing in the same room.

That's why playing with your friends beats online gaming anyday. Hey, I'd rather play system link with four people to a TV than have the whole TV to myself and play with a bunch of annoying, foul-mouthed strangers online.Dr_Corndog

 Clans/Guildsa re great and you can have a real laugh with them ... but thats usually easier done on Dedicated servers for FPS's (Aka PC only) with a seperate Microphone Channel (Teamspeak Ventrillo) ... Xbox LIVE isnt quite able to pull off the ammount of Control the PC as, if they dont bring Dedicated servers into the mix they NEVER will. 

Check your gamer zone.  If you're in Underground, you're just asking for trouble.

You can mute individuals.

Send feedback.

For people you don't want to play with again, set them to "Avoid" status.

XBL has these tools for you to use.

There is muting.  Highlight the gamer who is annoying.  Bring uo their gamercard and use the option mute.  It is handy and I use it all the time. :D

All I can say is... I'm glad Gamespot is so harsh, sometimes.  I can't imagine how much more chaotic this place would be, if not.

Its mainly to do with knowing that they cannot be physically hurt ..and its totally annymnous past your Nickname, which it shouldnt be :P

The more mature games often have the more mature players. GRAW, for example, has a great community. Halo 2, however... not so much.

Well, gears online is also not the best out there. Firstly of course all the abusive people play that game (to be expected seeing the nature of the game) and secondly I think it's not the best xbox live game out there. I think that title goes to rainbow six vegas. Halo 3 will be something completely different. Bungie will probably be raising the bar for online multiplayer once again.

That is just silly.  You have the ability to mute people on XBL.  I would rather have this option then no one communicating (well not quite no one but a large amount of people are silent when I am on PSN).  Especially in team strategy games that require communication.

now thats just pathetic. It feels like im playing against AI controlled bots when i play Resistance online because not one person talks. Ive actually heard a few people talking in Motorstorm though. Online gaming without the voice = not fun at all. There isnt a competitive feeling. Go play Halo 2 online and dont use a headset. Its pretty impossible

Would a solution be that Microsoft can hire people to moderate games? Like have an option where you can report a person swearing or being racist. The M$ mod hops onto the accused person's xbox and is able to hear and record everything he is saying.  Then bam. Warning. Second time he does it. Banned without refund.  Sure a bunch of little panzies would be angry but as a result it would clean up live and attract a lot more quality people thus increasing the quantity as well.Dups79

That would be sweet if they did it for glitching as well.  But if you take the cursing and glitching out then you only have %10 of XBL left.
