So whats actually wrong with playstation net (think thats what its called)?

It seems that it is a general rule that XBL, although you pay for it, is a better online serive.

I was just wondering why exactly? I've never gone online with my PS2 and don't own a PS3 so not tried it.

From my understanding, it works (in most cases) on a peer to peer same as xbl.

Is it the number of people that use it? (not enough people online?)

Is it hard to setup?

Has it just got a really bad interface or something?

Just wondering - as generally speaking, if something is free - it usually get more people interested in it than something that you have to pay for.

Well I've used PSN a lot and never had any probs with it. It's always been lag free for me. There's always been people playing,, whether it be COD4 Warhawk or any other online game. Downloads can be a little slow occasionally but other than that no great annoyances. I'd say it compares roughly equally to XBL, to me there's no real difference.

hmm.. its just alot of people say the XBL is better - but i've not seen anyone contest this theory.

Which is VERY odd for system wars.

I know what you mean, I remember there being big debates about it but that was ages ago. Like when PS3 first came out and they were being compared.

I don't play online much, but from what I've used of both services XBL is better for the features it has. Fortunately, I couldn't give a crap less about most of the useless features of XBL and prefer to free service of PSN and PC to accomodate my 5-10 hours a month online play.

Xbox live has so many community features which PSN doesn't have. For one it has a unified friends list and allows you you to invite your friends into any game at any time. You can also private chat to friends when in game. On the PS3 you have to quit the game to access these features and often it is a chore to get into a game with friends.

Downloads seem much, much quicker on my 360 than my PS3, as well as the 360 having more content uploaded weekly.

There are often tournaments and community features which allow you to do things like play games against celebrities and win something for being online at a certain time etc.

Basically i think the main difference is the community which is xbox live. On PSN you can feel quite isolated without many people speaking in games and not really being able to invite friends easily etc.

Only bad thing about PSN is that you cant talk to friends while you in a game you have to exit game to reply to msg's.....but that will all be fixed soon when home arrives or Even sooner.

With Xbl u can do that but also being that it is MS you also can go on msn while in a game and talk to ppl.

But from what ive seen when Dl from XBL its also pretty slow.

My friend had 360 and tell me sometimes cause of the wireless add on he gets Dc randomly at times...but i think he just got a faulty wireless add on....not really sure.

I own both consoles and play online on both as well and I can tell you that PSN is everybit the online service that XBL is. Its the XBOX fanboys that want people to believe that by paying $50 a year for XBL, that somehow makes a more superior service. Trust me when I say that I haven't had any issues on PSN whatsoever. The games are lag free, the downloads work just like they do on XBL and so on!! Imo Sony's HOME service will make XBL look like garbage once it hits its stride!!

Probably xbox, not by alot though. I haven't experienced to much problems with it, lag free most of the time...Yeah but i'd love for it to have Wifi, thats the only thing i don't like. I'll hopefully buy that wireless adapter sometime this year, aparently its pretty good.

Well ill agree that xbox live is better then psn because of its features that ps3 users cant do but one thing that I love about the ps3, is once u buy one u take it out and hook it up and register all your online info and settings, u can pop in a game and go right on and play any game that has online features for free. And u can go online wirelessly.

U see I bring this up because it really pissed me off because I knew I had to get xbox live but I didnt care about paying until I bought my xbox 360 home along with halo 3 for around $400 and then I set everything up just to find out I had to buy a seperate peace which my cousin told me in order to play wireless u had to buy another peace for it for $99, so I was already mad and said forget about it, ill just leave xbox live out and just play my ps3 online and so far I been playing alot of warhawk and rainbow six vegas 2 and call of duty 4 and resistance and havent been dissappointed with my online expirience with my ps3. To me the biggest thing that is a plus is if u can just go online free and be able to play wit your friends and I do that all the time on my ps3, so I dont see what all this fuss is about PSN being bad.

same here, I have a 360 but I play online with the ps3. yes the 360 has more feaures online, but I dont want to download demoes and the actuall online gaming is exactly the same, so why pay the extra?

ive onli got a 360 so i cant compare it with the PS3. but id bet theyd be the same-ish. like xbox 360's online setup is fairly user friendly and PS3's would probably be close to the same. onli diff is probably the online marketplace. although is there one on ps3? i duno.
