I guess you people don't like fighting games. I don't want to hear jack shit the next time Xbox is passed over for a major release.

Reddit’s ‘NotQuiteFactual‘ has collected and shared some interesting stats about Bandai Namco’s latest fighting game, Tekken 8. According to the latest stats, the PC platform is the most popular one in Tekken 8. Yep, you read that right. Tekken 8 has more PC players than PlayStation and Xbox players.

Going into more details, NotQuiteFactual gathered the data by looking at the replays list in the game and sorting by recent. This month’s report is based off of 765015 replays gathered between 2024-05-10 and 2024-05-11.

I haven't played fighting games for many years, but still....

Xbox is a platform for children who like FPS but can't afford a PC.

Its entire genesis is birthed from this.

Sony has been getting eroded greatly by shitty cinematic games but still is the boss when it comes to casual fighting games like Tekken.

Its widely known xbox not the platform for fighting games. Games that survived on the platform either random anime games for few month or crossplay titles. Get a PS or PC if you enjoy fighting game there just more releases on it that is exclusive like the recent granblue rising.

It's based off replay data so that isn't accurate.

Tekken has found a new home.

People do a variety of different data pulls like this with Tekken and SF. Even if it's not hard numbers straight from the pub, they're always at least in the ballpark, if not completely spot on when real numbers come through.

And yeah, not a surprising split at all.

For various reasons Xbox was never the FGC hotspot. You'd get the occasional "best console version" of a game in terms of response time, resulting in some majors running the Xbox version. High level competitors don't give a shit about plastic wars, they just want the best play experience. But the broader community was always committed to PS, some of that for good reason too.

Just turned out PC offers the best across the board for this genre. Already had stuff like Fightcade for years. SFV + crossplay really broke the ice on modern FGC being on PC. Covid lockdown, tournaments being run online, really put a spotlight on why PC is the platform for it. Everyone got used to high performance systems and monitors with zero barriers for controller compatibility. Then of course streaming, discord, game selection, customization, etc. If you want access to all of what this genre has to offer, PCs the place for it.

Fortunately doesn't even matter what you roll with now, at least for the "major" games. Crossplay is awesome. That relatively small slice of Xbox gamers still get to play with everyone else.

@BenjaminBanklin: All this tells me is that Xbox players have better games to play. Unsurprising that a ps5 console unsupported by Sony would have a fan base desperate to play something….anything. Tekken is a steaming pile of doodoo, and no respectable fighting fanbase would be seen buying it.

And coped up lemmings are telling me that Halo Infinite and Starfield has more playing on the Xbox🤡Nobody is on the damn system. Like its over, the console is in its irrelevant state. If Sea of Thieves didn't came out on the PS5, i bet you 97% of its playerbase would've been on pc.

I never viewed the Xbox as a platform for fighting games...that was more Sony; especially with how much better the d-pad is on the Playstation over Xbox. Nonetheless, this game started off so strong on release and just shit the bed with the monetization and DLC

This thread could easily not exist at all, and it would be obvious it would be skewed towards Playstation.

Tekken has always been associated with it, the fighting genre itself, and far more Japanese focused, which outside of MK is typically, all fighting games ever.

This as some big revelation is abit weird, in general.

Judging from the demo, it's pretty great. The Steam reviews are negative because of the post launch microtansactions.

Which is completely fair.
