here are the reviews so far

87% Pc Gamer Sweden
40% Eurogamer.cz
78% Gamestar
77% PCG (alemana, creo)
90% Pc Zone
70% Official Playstation Mag in the UK
80% Xbox Official (uk)
90% Power Unlimited

read the PC Zone (UK) review and am looking forward to the game. Basically its more of a game than Arma2 according to the review. Now i love Arma2 but OFP2 should be good fun. That said the hardcore mode is proper hardcore.

The ratings are all over the place. I'll play this game and judge it for myself.

Interesting... scores.... Very diverse. Anyway ArmA 2 ftw. I'd rather a proper sequel to OFP - being such a fan of the game. Despite that OFP2 looks to be good... if not more like BF2 Project Reality.

the reviews from the pc mags seems great. the console ones, not so much. i guess this game is one that will appeal mostly to pc gamers. who knows, probably this game is made with pc in mind, with the console versions to supplement the income.

Ah yes, that review was basically whining that it was just too difficult. Oddly enough, the review was withdrawn as well, lol. There is a whole thread about it over on the official OFDR forums.

I'm going to take a guess that the reviewer was thinking it would be like Call of Duty 4, and was pissed that his health didn't regenerate when he took a 12.7mm round to the thigh.

There's footage of the the PlayStation 3 version?`Just a few days ago when I last visited the Codemasters forums people were still complaining that there are no PS3 videos (hopefully the superior version, the EGO engine is a Sony developed engine after all...).

Anyway, expecting 8 to 8.5 here at GameSpot and it's a must-buy for me no matter what.

I did not realize that Far Cry 2 was a squad based tactical/milsim style shooter that depends upon issuing the right commands and utilizing proper strategy in order to insure success.

I can see it from a mile away with OFP2.

The GI preview was incredibly, and I mean incredibly negative, and those guys are high on everything before they review it.

This looks like it has potential, much like FC2, then you start to play it and realize what a disappointment it is from its previous entry. I see no higher than an A. What did FC2 get here? AA?

I guess if you go in expecting it to be like Halo or Call of Duty, you will be very disappointed. It all depends what appeals to you, of course. Yet this will no doubt be the kind of game that will have scores all over the place because it is not your run of the mill shooter. However, going by the reviews thus far that have judged it from the proper perspective of having strong milsim leanings, it would appear it is indeed going to be what many are hoping it will be. Official Xbox Magazine even stated that it is a must buy and that there is nothing else like it on consoles.

Probably biased as hell due to the fact it's not done by the original developers, Bohemia Interactive who are from Czech Republic.

Neither genre specifically "appeals" to me. I like Halo. I dislike CoD. I like ArmA II. I think OFP2 will be a disappointment. I like the genre, but a disappointment is what I don't like.

To be perfectly honest, it would not surprise me to see this particular game get something along the lines of a 7.0-7.5 here. Beings it goes against the grain of what is currently accepted as a good shooter, I almost expect it. Regardless of scores, I just know that it appeals to me because it is not a run n' gun arcade shooter. Don't get me wrong, I still love arcade shooters, I am just burnt the hell out on them at the moment and find something that is more raw, strategic and realistic to be far more intriguing.

I think, much like FC2, OFP2 will deserve a lower score. Of course, though, I may change my tune after checking it out, but I get a pretty disappointing feeling about this one.

Well, that is the beauty of personal preference, right? Even if it does get a higher score than you happen to think it may deserve, there will be many more that feel it completely deserves it or maybe even feel that it is underrated. I am quite certain that there are many games you happen to love that many others would consider a "disappointment." Same can be said of us all, I think.

Anyway, sorry it is not your bag, but that does not mean it will be a failure for everyone. To each their own, aye?;)

Worth mentioning that OPMUK gave it a more reserved score because of the guy finding the realism offputting or some such. Basically you should be listening to the PC crowd when it comes to games like this.

Some games are pretty overall disappointments, even with slightly high reviews, like FC2. Most gamers don't like it, yet it got generally favorable scores. Most reviewers just seem out of touch with the common man these days.

I posted the link to the footage, from your message i'm not sure if you realised or not, you can tell it's the PS3 version as all the popups etc have the PS3 buttons present, for the scale of the game i'm was actully very impressed with how it plays and runs judging by how it looks in the footage.

BioShockOwnz

LOL, common man? Well, I am definitely a common man and I find there are plenty of reviews I agree with.

Anyway, this game is catering to a particular audience in the first place and the way it is looking, it is certainly not going to be a disappointment to the bulk of that crowd. The only gamers this will be a disappointment to is the mainstream type that only play the likes of Halo and Call of Duty. As they would likely pick up this game and think they can win by being Rambo all the way through. It really is no wonder why a magazine like Game Informer had a negative impression of it....which was mostly graphical gripes by the way.

Look, it's obvious that OFDR is not your particular flavor and that's cool. Just please don't try and tell me it is going to be failure in general because you say so. As with any game, it will have it's fanbase, regardless if it scores high or low. I know one thing, it has a hell of a lot more positive impressions than negative thus far, that includes previews and reviews. For gamers wanting a realistic, hard as nails, gritty and strategic war shooter, it's obvious already that the game will deliver that.

Now way this can be compared to Arma II, Arma II is the legit experience.

FP 2 sacraficed too much of its experience for a more consolized feel imo.

Way to stereotype. I love ArmA II, so obviously this is "my flavor". I like shooters, but does that mean I think Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is awesome? No. It was a disappointing turd.

I was not stereotyping, you are just putting the cart before the horse is all. I think the bulk of reviews thus far prove that this is above the caliber of Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, buddy. Yet you choose to take 1 preview from Game Informer as the source of your criticism in the face of a majority of positive reviews and previews thus far.

No one, including the devs ever said that this will be as much of a sim as ArmA or even the first Flashpoint. Yet, I will bet you my bottom dollar that it will be a hell of a lot more polished and have a higher production value.;)

They say that this game was more design for the console users! Check out Bit-TechDot.net review.

Sorry PC Fans.

I'm not surprised. But honestly I think Bit-Tech is being very unfair. Codemasters have always been a mutliplat dev. It was plainly obvious from the get go that it wasn't going to be as deep as the original because of multiplat restrictions. They set themselves up for disappointment, really. This isn't like Invisible War or BioShock. The original OFP had a UI that would be impossible on a gamepad. If they actually expected to be deeper than the original then I don't know what to say.

The game should eventually stabilize around 80% at Metacritic. More or less what was expected for such a game.

It's very strategical and I wouldn't expect all reviewers to fully understand the point of the game (GameSpot and IGN both seem to have misunderstood what the game is about). 1UP's reviewshould be up soon enough - perhaps that one is better.
