Well, what you have to understand is that for the 360 version of the games, Microsoft has to get a cut as well.
This is why it adds up, ultimately. People like to go on about the PC being more expensive, but all of its retail games are at least $10 cheaper than console games, and downloadables are completely free. Remember that map pack you had to spend money to get for C&C3? PC gamers got it completely free, on top of having paid $10 less for the game in the first place.
That goes for pretty much all downloadable content you have to pay for, in all PC/360 games. You had to pay to buy horse armor in Oblivion, while PC gamers could download free mods that completely modified and upgraded the gameplay and graphics. Gears is $10 less on the PC(360 price still hasn't gone down), and the PC gets a free map editor, 5 free SP chapters, and three new multiplayer maps (it's shipping with 19 MP maps total). And presumably, free online play, though that remains to be seen.
Of course it's more expensive for 360, a computer, you need to get new graphics cards to play the newest games.Satune
And yet...a 8800GT costs $250 compared to a $350 console with a $20 gig HDD or a $399 console with a $40 gig HDD(but bluray balances it out...right?)
PC games require at least 10 patches before you can play them rightBig_Gamer_Al
*smacks* Whatch u taken abut??

Sarcasm, right?
I mean, multiplats would have the same bugs on all versions (more or less) - meaning that easily accessible/player-made patches make the PC versions better than the other versions.

Yes, i do see something wrong with that. Orange Box for the PC is already only $45.XaosII
Orange Box was also only $45 if you had pre-ordered it, which also gave you access to the TF2 beta. That's $15 cheaper AND access to nearly the full version of Team Fortress 2 a month before its release. And you don't even have to go to a store. Yes, PC gaming certainly has its positives.

The reason you got charged for GeoW map packs? Microsoft. The reason you're not getting GeoW added content? Again, Microsoft. The reason you pay $10 more for every game? You guessed it, Microsoft.
I recommend you hit "0" as soon as it connects, and start yelling immediately.

Exept PC TF2 was playable from day one, while it was 360 version that needed patch :D
OK...i can understand that...thanks...but if thats the case and those extra dollars are going to licensing...how come Wii games are so cheap then? Is Nintendo making such a killing that they can forget the licensing for that console...or is the dev time( man power ) much lower for that platform?JustinCredibleJ
Well...first of all Nintendo makes profit from selling Wii, unlike Sony and MS does. Second they still get the 10$ from each copy of third party game sold. SO bassicaly publisher makes less money on single Wii game sold than on 360 or PS3 game. But the very low dev costs for Wii make up for that (especialy since people might not be so eager to pay 60$ for games with such low production values). Also...funny thing, but it's10$ diffrence only in US. In Europe it's much bigger.
In westrn europe it's always at least 15$, most of the time more (and it can go up to even 20$)
and up to 50-60$ in eastern Europe. Yeah... really.
Examples from Poland:
CoD4 PC: 38$, 360: 88$, PS3 : 95$
Bioshock: PC: 30$, 360: 88$
even the most expensive PCgames here are 50$ max (it's very rare to see such price though)
Listen, I am not bashing PC's but I just prefer sitting on my bed and playing on my 32 inch tv and not having to worry about installing games.chicagog19
That's fine and all (altough i prefer not to worry that my platform will die on me any moment), but what does it have to do with the topic at hand?
Don't 360 games use hd dvd discs as oppossed to cd-rom/dvd-rom or simply downloaded material that runs off a hard-drive?eddy_of_york
they do use larger disks...but thats meaningless since all disks are very cheap to produce...and most PC games install from 2 DVD's anyway.
