You can play the first 3 hours of the game. Available on current and former gen consoles and PC
@regnaston: oh, I figured it was one of those paid games where the demo is timed access then cuts you off after... okay, if F2P totally looks like it
Will try it, but i can't stand its fugly art style.
I am so desperate for a new game that i'll most likely play this for a good amount if we're allowed to play for more than 3h
Found a review of the demo from one of my preferred actual game journalists, Paul Tassi. In his own words:
It's fine
Here is the link.
It actually doesn't sound that bad, might check this out.
Lol.
Anyway, might give it a crack when I have time.
This was so dumb that it was good.
I want my hour back. Holy shit what did i just play. The best way to describe this game is that it feels like it was supposed to come out in 2007, but fund its way out in 2021. EVERYTHING feels and looks outdated as f*ck. wow. And that aim acceleration on the ps5 was awful. Paul Tassi saying that its "fine" is BS. He is only "fine" with it because he is starving for a new GaaS game (he plays D2 daily in 2021 lmao).
This was the worst game i've played in ages. I don't see this getting more than a 5 here and low to mid 50's on Meta. THIS GAME IS ON GODFALL LEVEL OF TRASH. I wasted 21gb of my SSD on this. 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
This game is great, but of course haters will hate, it's what they do. The easiest part to get upset about is the crappy aim acceleration, but it's easily fixed by changing your settings to around 1.2-1.6x instead of the default .8. I think I'm currently playing at 9 speed and 1.6 and it feels pretty damn good (a lot better than the crap default settings).
I easily enjoy this game more than Destiny and Borderlands. I am going to get all 4 characters to max level and be ready for the full game since it carries over. I've been looking forward to this game and it's about damn time a game finally met my hype level after so many letdowns as of late. It's fun by yourself but is insane with another friend or two.
I strongly recommend giving it a chance, it's a lot of fun and I can't wait for the full release. I really hope they support this title and franchise moving forward. These are the types of games we need moving forward and it's easy to tell from the devs. confidence that they know the game is good. This game will score in the 8's.
It's all about fast paced fun... something that seems to be lost in most games these days.. you know.. fun?
^omg what are you two on??? This reminds me heavily of pre Godfall release when i was pooping on it while there was a bunch of people telling me how wrong i was, and that the game looked great. You know what happened after the game got reviewed.
I like the story and world just fine BUT
The cutscenes have weird camera shaky stuff going on, and the cover system is really lacking. And my god is some of the voice acting really bad.
Feels like an outdated game, AA at best
A game from 2007 some may say.
Played the demo for about 3 hours total. I really like the story & the music in the demo. The assault rifles feel & sound good, and I do like some of weapon mods & class powers. However, ..most of the other combat aspects feel a bit janky. I really hate the cover mechanic in this game. A lot of times my character doesn't even go into cover at all.
The game reminds me of an odd mixture of Defiance, Destiny, & The Division for some reason. Overall, I don't see Outriders scoring high on the charts (not that I care anyway). It's not a bad game at all imo, but it's not anything super special either unfortunately. It's Average or *slightly* Above average at best. (Based solely on the demo of course...)
It’s fun so far the game looks a bit meh graphics wise but have seen better areas in videos. The cover mechanic is a bit naff but you shouldn’t be hiding in cover anyway. Will definitely pick up as need another coop game to play
Yea, not supporting this spamathon shit.
Get it on sale when it's 70% off with all the DLC crap.
having tried the demo, free would be too much for this game

I'm not telling you that you're wrong. I have no idea how the game will be perceived by the media and/or by others. I am just personally saying that I really like the game and it is a step in the right direction. It is fast paced, frantic, and skill based (although the aiming is a little subpar which detracts from the experience). If they tweak the aiming a bit and make it more smooth this could easily be one of my favorite looter shooters of all time, if not my favorite.
I never much cared for opinions on gaming outside of my own (not saying I don't respect them though). To me this game is great. It takes a couple hours to really get into and the opening hour, especially with that awful hologram shooting part is rough. The story is solid and the gameplay with a friend or two is a top notch experience though.
Playing on World Tier 5 (out of a possible 15 when the game is released) isn't a walk in the park and you can easily get killed and have to start over if you aren't careful and the difficulty scales with a larger party.
I think the weapons, skill trees, effects, graphics, sound, are all very nicely done and it is a lot of fun once you get into the game. The first hour or so is easily the slowest part.. it's one of those games that gets better and better the more time you put into it and once you unlock better weapons and abilities.
I've been grinding for legendary weapons and playing with my son and we have had more fun with this game than any other game besides Rogue Company in a long time. Sure as hell beats shit like Destruction All Stars... perhaps its just because there hasn't been a lot of great games released recently, but this game is an easy double purchase for me.
Where as I don't feel as though it's a perfect game I would still easily give it an 8 although something tells me it will score overall in the 7's.

I can't disagree with most or all of what you say. However, that said, in my opinion those are the EXACT type of games we have been missing. Games that are just pure fun and content and not all hype, empty promises, and half baked ideas.
To me everything they set out to do they did damn well, and by that I mean the actual gameplay part of the game.

An 8? That's insanely high for what i played. But i'll get back to it and finish the demo in coop, cuz solo was incredibly boring.

Yeah, the game is a lot more fun in co-op I must say. It's better when you are communicating so having a mic is probably a must. Don't think of it as a masterpiece meant to be a great single player experience, because I think it's pretty clear they meant this to be a multiplayer experience and the gameplay at higher levels and being in a party being the focus.
Co-op increases scale (more enemies, harder enemies, more health/damage/etc.) so if your teammates either aren't good or not playing intelligently it may be frustrating. The boss fights and fights leading up to boss fights can be pretty intense once you get leveled up a bit. Then add in the abilities and effects once you start getting some good drops and it's pretty cool man.
I'm thinking the game scores mostly in the 7-8 range. It isn't mind blowing, but it's just a lot of fun once you really get into things (which seems to be sorely lacking in games as of late in my opinion). The first hour or two isn't what sold me, it was the content and gameplay after that. Once you get to at least level 5 and world tier 4 the game really starts to open up. Until then it seems a bit easy and underwhelming. The game ramps up fast once you start leveling though. At lower tiers the enemies and loot you get are like -2 levels, but starting at world tier 4 they are +1 and then at 5 they are +2 all the way up to tier 15 for now in the full game which is +12.. which is likely insane seeing as though tier 5 can be difficult. The game is definitely harder and more frantic and fun in a party. It just has that old school feel that is hard to find these days but in a good way.
I could easily see the tiers at +10 or higher being truly insane, especially if you're playing with a 3 man team. Higher tiers don't just make the enemies more spongy it adds more enemies and adds different types as well. Imagine tier 2 with 7 enemies and pretty much just dumbed down canon fodder and tier 5 with 20 enemies including rockets, snipers, mini bosses, flamethrowers, etc. Now imagine that at tier 15... You can replay all the levels and it is clear that it will be a bit grindy to get gear by doing the same mission multiple times looking for a certain drop, but I'm ok with that since the gameplay is good overall in my opinion.
Try the trickster class since it feels like close range combat is better than ranged. Like I said before, they definitely need to fine tune the aiming at longer distances.
Demo? Might as well call it a trailer. I spent most of my time watching than actually playing. WTF is up with "game" developers? Cutscene, followed by cutscene, followed by cutscene, followed by cutscene, walk a little gamer, now cutscene time. 😐
Isn't that the PlayStation formula ?? 😁

It is. Sony might as well buy the exclusive for this game because it perfectly matches their portfolio.
Not only is it full of cutscenes, but said cutscenes are so poor. Reminds me of those noname Steam games with a $1000 budget.
It's fun to see some folks upset because a game don't meet their standard of what a game should be as if they're the ones to decide that
😂😂😂😂
Pathetic. 😎
Killed the electric boss and its just too paintful to continue. This is Godfall with guns lol. People Can Fly saw the money printing of Destiny, and just like EA, tried to tip their toes into this GaaS shit. What a disaster. The only good things i can say is that the powers (i played pyro) were decent and the skill tree is reasonably large for possible build variety. Everything else with no exceptions is bottom tier 3/10 to 4/10 worthy. And just like Anthem, weapons don't have any impact to them. Feels like shooting a toy gun. Awful game.
And my multiplayer is completely broken so i couldn't even try it.
Looks like a typical 5-6/10 game. "Game works but why bother when there's much better shit".
Looked at a gameplay video and saw absolutely nothing original, like I've already played this game several times before. Couple that with shoving really unecessary cutscenes in my face often, boringly designed characters and awful dialogues. And the shooting apparently feels bad as well, according to you who have played it.
LOL at this game.
